The Soulsville Charter School is seeking great classroom teachers for the 2019-2020 school year who will go the extra mile to ensure that their students achieve at high levels. Competitive salary and attractive benefits are associated with this opportunity.
We are interested in talking with candidates in any of the following areas:
Middle School (Grades 6-8)
Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Music, Special Education, and Physical Education. Elementary, middle, or secondary licensure/certification is required. (Alternate route licensure/certification is possible.)
High School (Grades 9-12)
Math (Algebra I, Algebra 1a, Unified Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-calculus, Statistics, College Math, Calculus, AP), English (I, II, III, and IV, AP), Science (AP/Chemistry, AP/Physics, Biology, Environmental Science), Social Studies (World Geography, World History, AP/U.S. History, Economics, Government, Facing History and Ourselves, Psychology, Contemporary Issues), Orchestra (Jazz and Strings), World Languages (Spanish, AP/Latin), Special Education, Lifetime Wellness, PE, Computer Literacy, Personal Finance, and ACT Prep/Junior Seminar. Subject specific licensure/certification is required. (Alternate route licensure/certification is possible.)
Begun in 2005, The Soulsville Charter School (TSCS)’s mission is to prepare students for success in college and life in an academically rigorous, music-rich environment. Located in the inner-city neighborhood of Soulsville, USA, in Memphis, TN, TSCS is adjacent to the site of historic Stax Records, where the Stax Museum of American Soul Music now celebrates and preserves the Stax story. TSCS began with sixty students in sixth grade and has since grown to serve 650+ students in grades 6-12 with about a third of the students living in the Soulsville community. TSCS is a tuition-free, public charter school that is about changing kids’ life trajectories.
