Job Description
Code Nation (codenation.org) equips students in under-resourced high schools with the skills, experiences, and connections that together create access to careers in technology. With a volunteer teaching corps that includes hundreds of professional web and software developers, Code Nation mobilizes the tech community to provide tuition-free coding courses and work-based learning programs that promote career readiness. Founded in 2012 (and formerly called ScriptEd), Code Nation currently reaches approximately 1,500 students per year in 46 high schools in New York City, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Chicago.

The Partnerships Manager will build strong partnerships with corporate partners, peer organizations and education institutions to identify meaningful engagement opportunities for our students and company partners. The Partnerships Manager will be responsible for leading new partnership initiatives to support Code Nation’s emerging student populations in the East Bay (Richmond) and South Bay (San Jose).
Ideal candidates will have a strong knowledge of the steps needed to secure strategic partnerships in the Bay Area, and will be capable of leveraging existing partner networks and identifying new opportunities. Candidates should be comfortable stewarding, managing, and leveraging relationships to secure donations and identify meaningful engagement opportunities for Code Nation students, companies and stakeholders. Candidates should enjoy working with both internal and external stakeholders, and can effectively tailor their communication style to address diverse audiences. The ideal candidate loves fundraising, will model a culture of philanthropy across the entire organization and has existing connections with Bay Area organizations and philanthropic circles.

Responsibilities
Development Strategy and Execution

- Work closely with the Bay Area Managing Director on execution of Code Nation’s fundraising strategy at the local level in pursuit of our annual fundraising goals
- Create and cultivate deep relationships with a portfolio of corporate and foundation partners; contribute to partner identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Manage a diverse portfolio of funding and engagement opportunities that inspire company-wide giving and
- Implement initiatives to deepen Code Nation’s relationship with fiscal partners; solicit donations from corporate, foundation, and individual
- Support the Bay Area Managing Director in securing large donation
- Track opportunity progress in
Bay Area Program Partnerships
- Work closely with the program team to identify programmatic partnership needs, including volunteer recruitment, student field trips, and event
- Plan, execute, and attend events that support Code Nation’s program partnerships (volunteer recruitment lunch and learns, meet-ups, corporate volunteer days, )
- Deliver excellent customer service to partner organizations by addressing challenges and responding to inquiries with timely communication
- Develop cross-departmental processes that streamline communication and co-working between Partnership and Program
- Identify and pursue new opportunities for partnership with higher education institutions, coding bootcamps and other community based organizations
Contribute Special Development Projects
- Identify new corporate donors and program partnerships to support South Bay expansion efforts Support with org-wide development initiatives, led by the Director of Development (large events, EOY campaign, etc.)
- Represent Code Nation externally, generating enthusiasm and new leads at conferences and other networking and community events
Who You Are
- 2+ years of experience demonstrating a commitment to working against institutional inequities
- Excited and eager to fundraise
- Demonstrated success in a role securing and stewarding relationships with corporate partners, peer organizations and education institutions
- Deep understanding of Bay Area philanthropic trends and landscape
- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM software
- Commitment to educational and tech equity
- Exceptional communication skills; ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across multiple teams
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated success managing many projects at once
- Self-motivated, flexible, and entrepreneurial
- Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative working environment
- Proficiency with Google Suite
- Knowledge of and/or interest in computer science, technology, and/or collegiate education preferred
- Ability to travel and to work extended hours, including weekends

- Starting salary range for this position is $64,000 – $72,000 per year.
