Position Summary:
Responsible for developing special education students’ success in academics, interpersonal skills, and activities of daily living; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues.
Essential Duties:
- Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
- Administers developmental testing programs, subject-specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual educational plans (IEPs).
- Adapts classroom work, after collaborating with other teachers in full inclusion classrooms, for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Education and/or Special Education
Experience – Minimum of 3 years prior relevant teaching experience working with children with developmental and intellectual and/or physical disabilities preferred; any equivalent experience.
