Job Description
The Organization: The Tennessee Educators of Color Alliance (TECA) was founded in 2016 with the vision to connect, develop, and support educators of color with decision-making power in order to shape, create, and influence education policy. TECA’s primary focus is in three areas: policy, practice, and preparation. Now an organization with a network of over 2000 educators, advocates, and allies across the state, TECA is considered a formidable influencer and leader on teacher diversity in Tennessee, and across the country.
The Position: TECA seeks to hire a Director of Strategic Partnerships (located geographically in Tennessee) to oversee, develop, and lead current partnerships with districts, charter management organizations, education preparation providers, community-based organizations, and corporate sponsors, and establish new ones.
The Director of Strategic Partnerships (DSP) is responsible for establishing new
partnership growth through building and maintaining strong communications with prospective schools, districts, organizations, and corporations across the state. The DSP will successfully offer our support services to districts, charter management organizations, and education preparation providers to support goals to increase educator diversity, and implement inclusive and intentional recruitment and retention strategies. Each partnership will have its own portfolio and tailored suite of services and strategies. The DSP utilizes a
proven track record for both developing new partnerships from contract to contract and identifying new opportunities to implement TECA’s programming and support to suffice district goals. This position will work collaboratively with the Director of Leadership Development and Executive Director across functions to determine which strategies and programs are best suited to support districts. Additionally the DSP will also support development functions that include:
- Collaborating with the Executive Director to identify financial needs of the organization and ensure TECA has the resources to meet those needs,
- Building and maintaining relationships with existing funders in order to maintain current funding levels
- Seeking new sources of funding as needed
This position profile identifies the key responsibilities and expectations for performance. It cannot encompass all specific job tasks that an employee may be required to perform. Qualifications candidates should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of experience working in education sector; with a minimum of 2 years experience with district or system-level leadership, programs, or initiatives
- Project management experience & a needs-based consultative approach to drive
- Ability to work independently and persistently, while remaining flexible
- Strong team building, teamwork, and collaboration skills necessary to work across various environments
- Excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to lead conversations, meetings, and professional developments at schools and district level with individuals from various professional and cultural backgrounds
- Data-driven orientation and strategic decision-making skills necessary to drive solutions forward
- Proficiency using Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite tools
- Self-starter with demonstrated effectiveness in multitasking between projects in a collaborative environment in order to successfully meet/exceed goals by established deadlines
- Being unapologetic about pursuing racial and education justice in our education system
Salary: $70,000-$80,000

Work Conditions: This job operates in a remote capacity 80% of the time. Preferably candidates will live in Tennessee. If outside the Middle Tennessee area, they would need to be able to travel to Nashville once per quarter. Additionally, some travel may be required to support partnerships. Applicants need to have access to reliable transportation and car insurance.
