Early Childhood Education Center Director
Location: EHBN Nursery #1 (East Harlem)
Start Date: Immediately
Salary Range: $80,000 – $86,000
Reports to: Executive Director
Position Summary:
EHBN, Inc. is a community-based nonprofit organization founded in East Harlem. We have developed and run impactful education programs and services within the community since 1965, demonstrating our commitment to meaningful engagement. Operate two early childhood education centers in East and Central Harlem. We are currently seeking an Educational (center) Director to take on a leadership role overseeing daily operations, including supervising classrooms, staff, and children; providing instructional oversight; upholding licensing/policy guidelines; and handling related management responsibilities.
We are looking for a candidate with experience in early childhood education and has a passion for creating a fun, challenging, and exciting learning environment for children ages 2 to 5. This leadership role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young lives and the community.
- Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility for the daily operation of the preschool program
- Lead staff meetings and attend monthly meetings, and participate in any special task committees
- Maintain policies and procedures for program operation
- Maintain student records (emergency contacts for parents, doctors, and dentists; immunizations; annual physicals)
- Facilitate preparation for and implementation of parent/teacher conferences
- Plan school year calendar (themes) in collaboration with teaching staff
- Manage staff (develop work schedule, hiring/firing process, training, evaluations, etc.)
- Remain current on issues and trends in early childhood education
- Provide strategic vision for program development and implement necessary changes to enhance educational quality and community impact.
- Oversee enrollment process within the guidelines of funding agencies (ACS/NYCPS)
- Supervise implementation of licensing and safety procedures • Supervise implementation of program curriculum
- Provide support for teachers, including professional development and coaching • Maintain a visible presence to staff, students, and preschool families
