Teacher Early Head Start Infant/Toddler Teacher
Job Description
The Infant/Toddler Teacher prepares lesson plans which include indoor and outdoor activities which are individualized and based on each infants/toddlers own needs, interests, and schedules. The Infant /Toddler Teacher includes multicultural materials and activities, family style meals, and documents parent communications regarding the infant/toddlers’ functions and activities. The Infant/Toddler Teacher maintains on-going contact with families and works with all other components (Health, Nutrition, Parent Education and resources referred) to integrate services into the family setting.
The Teacher will create and manage an attractive, warm, and challenging environment for Infants and Toddlers, inclusive of children with special needs. The Teacher organizes the classroom according to developmental levels and the individual needs of each infant/toddler. The Teacher will ensure that diaper changing and toilet training functions are safe, sanitary, and developmentally appropriate. The Teacher relates to infants/toddlers in a calm, caring, nurturing, and soothing manner. The Teacher also conducts developmental screenings and assessments.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
– Principles an Techniques of infant and toddler development.
– Teaching Methods and Training Practices for Infants/Toddlers.
– Experience and Training
– An Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA)
– All licensing and certification trainings as required by the state of NJ
– Degree in Early Childhood Education
