Job Description Overview: Principal

Position Summary
The Principal serves as the spiritual, academic, and administrative leader of the Pre-K through grade 5 elementary program at Greenwood Christian School, ensuring that all aspects of the program align with the school’s mission, philosophy, and statement of faith. As a direct report to the school’s Executive Director, the Principal partners with faculty, staff, students, and parents to foster a Christ-centered environment that supports spiritual growth, character development, and academic excellence. The Principal works closely with the Executive Director and the School Management Team (SMT) to ensure implementation of high-quality programs and compliance with any applicable laws, regulations, and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Spiritual Leadership
•Model a growing relationship with Jesus Christ in word and action.
•Ensure that biblical truth is integrated into all aspects of curriculum and school life.
•Lead staff and students in prayer, devotions, and Christian service.
•Partner with parents and families in the spiritual formation of students.

Academic Leadership
•Oversee curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
•Monitor student progress and guide staff in improving student learning.
•Support teachers in implementing best instructional practices.
•Encourage professional growth and development for staff.

Administrative Leadership
•Promote a positive, safe, nurturing, Christ-centered environment.
•Supervise, evaluate, and mentor staff members.
•Manage daily operations, scheduling, and discipline, and ensure compliance with any applicable laws, regulations, and requirements.
•Collaborate with the Executive Director and SMT on planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Family Engagement and Public Relations
•Engage parents and families in the life of the school.
•Maintain open communication with parents and staff.
•Promote the school to prospective families.
•Represent the school within the broader community.

Qualifications
•A committed follower of Jesus Christ, active local church attender, and fully agrees with Greenwood Christian Church’s statement of faith.
•Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s preferred).
•Teaching certification required (Administrative certification preferred).
•Previous teaching and school leadership experience (Christian school preferred).
•Strong communication, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills.
•Demonstrated ability to lead with humility, vision, and grace.
