Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to
sit, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Job Summary
Serve as head of University Middle.
Minimum Position Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in an education-related field and ten (10) years of educational leadership experience.
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
May need to work/travel beyond normal work schedule
Special Conditions
Position is contingent upon funding and approval of the school by Shelby County Schools. A formal hire will not be made until an approval vote is granted and funding allocated by the Shelby County School Board.
The department is especially interested in candidates with experience in school leadership as a division head, head of school, or principal at a charter, traditional public, or independent school. Previous experience as a classroom teacher is strongly preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides leadership & strategic oversight to University Middle, including serving as head of school, overseeing and implementing academic curriculum, promoting campus & community partnerships, and coordinating research.
Provides supervision of staffing, fundraising, marketing, assessment, Shelby County Schools partnerships, building needs and budgetary considerations for University Middle.
Generates and supports opportunities for campus and community educational innovation in University Middle, at the discretion of the President and the Executive Vice President for Research & Innovation.
