Christel House Jamaica (CHJ) is a new, private, nonreligious school affiliated to Christel House International (CHI). It is scheduled to open in September 2019. CHI’s mission is to help children around the world break the cycle of poverty and become self-sufficient, productive members of their societies. Christel House transforms children’s lives by providing education, health care, nutrition, leadership training, character development and community outreach programs in a nurturing environment. CHJ will be part of an international network of nine schools operating in Mexico, India, South Africa, the United States and soon, Jamaica.
In Jamaica, Christel House will work with impoverished children and families living in and near Spanish Town, providing an excellent education through a holistic human development model in a new, world-class facility. In the initial year of operation, the school will serve 60 children per grade, in grades KG through 2. The school will then grow one grade per year until full at grade 13 serving approximately 840 students. For more information, see www.christelhouse.org
The Principal will promote and sustain high levels of learning and academic achievement for all students. As the school’s instructional leader, the Principal will ensure there is an effective teacher in every classroom, maintain a high-functioning professional learning community and collaborate with colleagues to share best practices for teaching and learning.

Qualifications
Education:
Master’s Degree or higher with appropriate degree/ specialization in education is mandatory. Specialization and certifications with the IB – PYP / CIE/ other national and international boards will be an added advantage
Work Experience:
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in school administration and supervision and a minimum of five years successful classroom teaching experience with a diverse population of at risk students achieving outstanding academic results are requirements. Experience working in a K-12/13 environment also required.
