Instructional Support Regional Director – Indiana GEAR UP
Job Description

The INGU Regional Director reacts and responds to local school and community needs to support whole child development by working with school & community partners, teachers, students, and families. The Regional Director works on-site at the school Monday through Thursday and communicates with partners, delivers instruction to whole classes and small groups of students, and supports after school programming. The Regional Director is the point person for all program implementation at their assigned schools and works to ensure program objectives are met, escalating more advanced issues to the manager. The position is a full calendar year position with other duties during the summer months.

We are searching for passionate educators who thrive on establishing relationships as trusted strategic partners to contribute to the development, support, and implementation of programming at our partner schools across the state.
Responsibilities include decision making related to the administration of the project in consultation with the directors and specialists, collecting participation data for activities at assigned schools, tracking action items related to areas of oversight and needs of the program directors and specialists, and other duties as necessary.

About Us:
Indiana Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (INGU) was established in 2016 through a competitive grant award from the U.S. Department of Education to Purdue University’s College of Education. Having completed the first grant cycle in August 2024, Indiana GEAR UP has received a new grant in the amount of $35 million dollars ($5M per year) to continue our work through August of 2031.
What We are Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- A Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
- Current valid Indiana teachers license
- A minimum of two (2) plus years experience as a K-12 teacher
Skills needed:
- Remarkable written communication skills including proper use of grammar, spelling, writing structure, proofreading, and editing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including listening, verbal capacity, team orientation and an ability to influence and build work relationships in a diverse workforce and across multiple employee groups.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Possess initiative, curiosity, problem-solving capacity, organization, and planning skills.
- Maintain a learning orientation to changing technology.
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail and follow-through.
- Proficient use of personal computers and standard software including word processing, spreadsheets, email, Google Suite, and internet.
- Ability to read, interpret, and adhere to university policies and procedures.

- Experience coordinating educationally focused programs
- Involvement working within the local community where assigned schools are located
- Exposure working in schools with diverse student populations
- Experience teaching STEM and/or PBL subjects
