JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant
ACCOUNTABILITY: Controller
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant is responsible for all aspects of the Finance Team. These aspects include accounts payable support, accounts receivable management, fixed asset management, grants management, month-end close, ad hoc reports, and other general accounting responsibilities. The Senior Accountant plays an integral part in providing financial, administrative, & clerical services, within the department, to ensure effective, efficient, & accurate financial and administrative operations.
JOB EXPECTATIONS
- Collaborate with Central Office and Deans of Operations to ensure accurate and timely bill payment
- Collaborate with Central Office and Deans of Operations to ensure accurate and timely deposits and recognition of revenue
- Input, monitor and audit transactions in the asset management system (Asset Tiger, import into Intacct)
- Prepare all federal, state and local grant reimbursement requests monthly (and support with budgets)
- Conduct month-end close, including bank and purchasing card reconciliations and all journal entries
- Ability to multitask and work under very tight deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in a staff accountant position, preferred
- Thorough knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws to include knowledge and understanding of withholding requirements and payroll taxes
- Microsoft Office proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Testing in proficiency may be required
