Site Manager, Talent Management – DC Charter Talent Management Initiative

Washington, DC                                                               

TNTP is currently seeking a full-time Site Manager, Talent Management to work with schools, charter management organizations (CMOs) and additional stakeholders on effective teacher talent management in select DC charter schools. This position will be based in Washington, D.C., and the Site Manager will travel to partner schools and meetings 2-3 days a week. This position is available immediately, and TNTP may offer a relocation stipend to help defer the cost of moving for this role.

Performance Management Group and Talent Management Initiative

TNTP is advancing human capital policies and practices that support teacher effectiveness in districts and states and improving the way school leaders and administrators manage their teachers. This starts with robust teacher evaluation and development systems that produce clear information on how teachers are performing their most critical role: advancing student learning. TNTP is helping its partners at the state, district, and school level to design and implement evaluation and development systems, and use information about teacher performance in decisions about hiring and staffing, development, compensation, promotion, and retention. 

In DC, TNTP is working with a cohort of charter schools to ensure that school leaders have the training and resources they need to provide their teachers with meaningful evaluations.

Role and Responsibilities
The Site Manager, Talent Management will have a profound impact on the evaluation and development of teachers in DC charter schools by supporting school leaders and other stakeholders in the initiative with a focus on effective and consistent human capital practices.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Create progress and accountability reports for schools, charter management organizations, Boards and other stakeholders

• Track the alignment of evaluation ratings to teacher effectiveness, as determined by the school leader

• Support school leaders in successfully implementing frequent, high-quality observation, feedback and evaluation cycles

• Collect student outcome data and provide coaching to school leaders as needed, and in direct alignment with meeting the goals of the initiative

• Work with school leaders to improve use of existing evaluation tools and provide logistical support to ensure that school leaders follow the evaluation process

• Develop plans to help retain effective teachers

• Ensure that schools develop effective selection practices and that all teacher positions are filled early

• Work with the Talent Management Coach, DCCTM as needed to help school leaders help their teachers improve and refine their instructional practice

• Work with the Talent Management Coach, DCCTM on the creation and facilitation of a sequence of professional development workshops for school leaders

• May implement student surveys

Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who believe deeply in our organization’s mission, who thrive in an entrepreneurial and dynamic environment, and who demonstrate a record of success in teacher observation and development.
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop and implement high-quality deliverables on long-term as well as shorter timelines

• Excellent analytical skills, including experience using qualitative and quantitative data to improve teacher performance

• Strong education background and instructional skill set, preferably in high-need schools or with high-need populations

• Successful experience working with teachers to improve their practice and student outcomes

• Evidence of achievement in prior endeavors

• The ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with others at all levels of an organization and to consistently display a high level of professionalism in all interactions

• Experience in public charter schools (a plus)

• Flexibility and comfort with ambiguity

• Comfort working with computers and strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite

• Willingness to work non-standard hours and occasional weekends

Compensation
The annual salary for this position is $70,000 or commensurate with experience in a similar position with the potential for a performance based bonus.
