The New York Performance Standards Consortium is a network of 38 small, progressive public (non-charter) high schools across New York State – 36 are New York City Public Schools (located in Brooklyn, The Bronx, Manhattan and Queens) – that graduate students using a system of performance assessment instead of the Regents Exams.
- Our teachers design and create their own curriculum (aligned with NYS standards) and do not have to “teach to the test.”
- Our rates of teacher job satisfaction and retention are significantly higher than traditional City public schools.
- Our network of schools provides a strong professional community with multiple opportunities for professional development in workshops facilitated by master educators and intervisitations in classrooms across the City.
Our teachers are members of the United Federation of Teachers and receive salaries and benefits according to the UFT’s contract with the NYCPS.
