The Horizons at Colorado Academy (HCA) program seeks candidates for the position of Lead Teachers for the elementary and middle school programs.

HCA offers an enrichment program designed for Denver Public School students from under-resourced communities. The tuition-free program runs for six weeks from June 13 through July 22, 2022 and emphasizes academic enrichment, social and emotional learning, cultural experiences and the arts, and health and wellness – including swimming.

Lead teachers guide daily classroom activities, go on field trips, oversee swimming and outdoor activities and other duties as required.

•   Provide instructional, behavioral and emotional support to all students as they participate in all aspects of their summer day
• Design and implement summer curriculum based on grade appropriate standards
• Communicate effectively with the Horizons team, including the assistant teacher, and other professional staff
• Collect observational data related to student’s progress in obtaining and using skills/strategies in the classroom
• Must have prior classroom experience. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is strongly preferred for Kindergarten
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree
• Be available to attend the full 6-week program plus mandatory staff training sessions the week prior to program start
• Culturally responsive teaching experiences preferred
• Some lifting, sitting, and the ability to engage young children in their daily activities
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check

The pay range for the six-week summer program is $4,200 – $4,400.  The pay range for the position is a good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range. Any wage differential that may exist for the position does not relate to sex, gender or gender identity, but relates solely to a seniority system, a merit system, or relevant education, training and/or experience.
