Job Description
OVERVIEW
Operating under the general direction of the Chief Academic Officer, Instructional Facilitators are district representatives who champion the district-wide vision for a commitment to high expectations and for the success of all students and who advocate for and support students, teachers, programs, and goals. The district’s Instructional Facilitators work on behalf of all employees, but each specializes in a different subset of staff. This position directly supports early literacy.
In that capacity, this position develops and facilitates professional development in early literacy for all certified staff to improve educator effectiveness; manages and facilitates programming directly related to Title I, Read Act, TSGold and early literacy interventions; and mentors, coaches and trains new and existing early literacy staff. Working to increase the quality and effectiveness of the Roaring Fork Schools early literacy curriculum, this position equips educators with the competencies that are required for implementing effective instructional practices for the READ Act.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direct supervision from the Chief Academic Officer. Exercises non-supervisory responsibilities over school leaders and educators.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Supports and Deliveries:

The Instructional Coach operates from a solution oriented stance to ensure the success of teachers at the individual educator and building levels.

Serve as a change/catalyst leader to support system alignments and specifically READ Act requirements as teachers apply the READ Act rules and Colorado Department of Education (CDE) regulations.

Serve as a resource for the 2019 READ Act, student learning, and related educational trends and opportunities.

Primary goals include increasing the quality and effectiveness of reading instruction that is aligned to the Science of Reading and the Roaring Fork Schools Instructional Model, and providing aligned literacy curriculum instruction and meeting the needs of all students.
STAFF SUPERVISION AND DEVELOPMENT:
This position currently has no direct staff supervisory duties however, is still considered an instructional leader that promotes District efforts to ensure:
● Student success as the primary focus;
● And intertwines the applied principles of collaborative adult learning;
Note: While not a direct supervisor the Instructional Coach does hold considerable influence regarding the professional development needs of Teachers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
● Bachelor’s degree in education plus additional coursework which certifies endorsement or licensure*
● Minimum of five years’ experience in Classroom Teacher role;
● Attend and successfully complete all staff development training as required by state law or as directed by their Supervisor.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
● Criminal Background check required for hire;
● Valid Colorado Teacher’s license with applicable endorsement*;
● Valid Colorado driver’s license or valid Colorado Identification required.
PRIMARY DUTIES for all Instructional Facilitators

Models best practice instruction, designs and delivers professional development which develops educator effectiveness.

Provides constructive feedback and ongoing assistance to new and existing teachers during informal observations and walk-throughs.

Works collaboratively with teachers, administrators and other instructional facilitators to identify instructional areas needing improvement/intervention; attends team meetings when necessary and leadership team meetings.

Develops, coordinates and facilitates new teacher orientation, the mentor program for new teachers and the induction program.

Assists in determining the effectiveness of the district’s curriculum and instructional practices; assists the CAO with curricular initiatives or adoption.

Supports the development, implementation and evaluation of common assessments in collaboration with the CAO.

Supports teachers and administrators in establishing results teams and data cycles, analyzing data and using data to inform decisions at the classroom and school level.

Partners with principals in supporting teachers and holding them accountable for program implementation and student achievement and growth.

Assists in the coordination and implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards.

Mentors, coaches and provides professional development for teachers on a remediation plan.

Keeps current regarding developments in curriculum, instruction and assessment and provides leadership and training to all staff.

Provides responsible staff assistance to the Chief Academic Officer and Superintendent; performs other duties as assigned.
Specific duties for a focus on early literacy:
-
Coordinate intervention for math and literacy for Read Act and Title I (and Spanish Literacy, SIPPS & OG Yoshimoto), including coaching, implementation, and progress monitoring Manage data, including pulling reports and supporting schools and managing the data pipeline elements of early literacy

Coordinate, schedule, document, and consult on professional development, including for: READ Act, LETRS, Northwest Regional Amplify

Write and manage budgets for READ Act and Title I, with support from Chief Financial Officer

Make purchase orders, including for the ELAT K-4 assessments and Kindergarten Teaching Strategies Gold
-
Additional duties related to the READ Act
-
Write READ Plans, set key annual dates, monitor progress, and support and consult building leaders and teachers in their implementation
-
Conduct READ Act Assurances
-
Collaborate with the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education Department on the processes for identification of emerging bilinguals as SRD according to the READ Act and in determining appropriate literacy instruction and intervention for emerging bilingual students regardless of program model

Additional duties related to Title I
-
Support and consult with building leaders and independent (non-RFSD) schools

Conduct Family Literacy & Math Engagement Nights

Meet with Title I point contacts ongoing basis for support and opportunity for feedback

Complete Consolidated Grant Application, focusing on Title I and Title II, with collaboration from the Director of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education

Additional duties related to Kindergarten Teaching Strategies Gold (TS Gold)

Serve as administrator of the system, including rostering students and providing system support

Set dates and issue reminders

Complete Colorado Achievement Plan for Kids and Kindergarten Readiness CAP4K

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING GUIDELINES
Education: Bachelors’ degree required. Master’s degree required in a content field associated with area of responsibility or related area recommended.
Experience: Seven years teaching experience recommended.
License or Certificate: Possession of a Professional Teacher’s license from the Colorado Department of Education. Possession of ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate valid Colorado driver’s license.
LOCATION AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Location: The position will be primarily located at the Carbondale District Office, but will require occasional travel to and among Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, and Basalt.
Working Conditions: Office environment with exposure to computer screens and use of a keyboard. The employee is frequently required to sit, walk, and stand. Travel from site to site and occasionally out of town.
Physical Conditions: Primary functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of times; use of computer keyboard; light lifting and carrying.
SALARY RANGE AND DAYS WORKED
Salary range: $79,000-$90,000/year, depending on qualified experience.
Days worked: 209 days/year (with paid personal time, paid sick leave, and paid time off for holidays and district non-work days such as during winter break and spring breaks)
