Instructional Support Pre-Kindergarten Teaching Assistant (Berkeley Campus)

During the 2021-2022 school year, RMP is driving after five big goals:
- Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students will grow, on average, 1.25 years in math and reading. Pre-K students will grow on average 1 year.
- 50% of 3rd to 5th-grade students will read a million words.
- 3rd grade through 5th-grade students taking CMAS will score an average of 45 % on track for the next grade level with 10% scoring exceeding expectations.
- At least 90% of students who start at RMP, stay at RMP.
- Teacher retention will be at least 85%.
Each member of the organization plays a part in achieving these goals. School-based staff members will work towards 2 or 3 metrics that are aligned to both their individual roles AND the Big 5. These metrics vary by position and are subject to change for the 2022-2023 school year. As a Teaching Assistant, you will be held accountable for some of these goals. Role Mission
Teaching Assistants (TAs) at Rocky Mountain Prep help foster a culture of learning by supporting the lead teacher with whole and small group instruction and day-to-day classroom duties. Our TAs develop meaningful relationships with scholars and families, support the recruitment and enrollment of scholars, and demonstrate a “by any means necessary” work ethic to ensure our scholars are receiving the support they deserve in a safe, rigorous, and loving environment.
In this role, you will:
- Lunch/recess dutiesMorning duties/afternoon duties
- Materials prep, bulletin boards, copies, homework folders, homework packets
- Clean & organize the classroom daily
- Support initial classroom set up and break down at the end of the school year
- Assist with bathroom breaks
- Assist with afternoon snack
- Support Attendance efforts
- Support with individual behavior plans
- Preparing instructional materials
- Assist with student instruction- leading or small group instruction (TBD with Lead Teacher)
- Care for students and assist with classroom management
- Communicate with parents about routine issues (work with the Lead teacher to communicate to parents)
- Commit to regular school hours and the school calendar
- Attend and participate in all required pre-service training programs (both RMP and DPS required events) and staff development meetings
- Address specific student’s needs as identified by the teacher
- Communicate with teachers and administrators about performance and disciplinary issues
- Maintain the confidentiality of student information
- Comply with ECE program rules and regulations including State of Colorado licensing requirements for Child Care Centers
- Attend weekly check-in meetings with the lead teacher to align together and create next steps based on current goals
- Perform other duties as required

Qualifications
Required
- Provide evidence of completing high school or a GED
- Pass a background check at the state and federal level
- Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States
Salary
- This is a full-time, in-person, benefits-eligible position with a salary of $20/hour and access to comprehensive benefits
- This position is eligible for overtime pay.
- This position is eligible for performance pay if metrics are met.
