Job Title: Strasburg High School – Principal

Job Goal: Have fun and be engaged in moving this great school forward! Located just minutes east of Denver, this Strasburg High School Principal position is a gem! Strasburg, Colorado is a fast growing community navigating urban sprawl. We are seeking a leader that has administration experience and is a driver of positive school culture! It is all about the students and staff at this school. The Principal will be empowered to; implement an improvement model which focuses on high student growth/achievement; building a positive school climate that supports the whole student; leveraging research and data to drive initiatives and instruction, and building a high-performing staff and leadership team to achieve the school’s vision and goals with student voice as a backbone element. The Principal will collaborate with students, parents, and community members, as well as other internal/external resources to implement new educational programs, navigate capital improvements, design lean systems, and identify other resources to accelerate student growth and achievement.

- Develop, implement and sustain an embedded collaborative professional learning model, which focuses on improving instructional practices and increasing student achievement.
- Use data to analyze and plan for differentiated support for staff and students.
- Develop and implement a school-wide plan to ensure the safety of students and staff in accordance with established district policies and procedures.
- Communicate and collaborate with families and community members, respond to diverse community interest and needs and mobilize community resources.
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment, models of instruction.
- Maintain active relationship with students, teachers and parents.
- Ensure there is supervision for all activities and programs that are outgrowths of the school curricula.
- Knowledge of Special Education and Second Language Acquisition regulations and strategies for services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Be an influencer that is adept at motivating others and influencing behavior to obtain results. You cannot accomplish change alone; rely on the distributed leadership work and commitment of others.
- Utilize a solution oriented strategic analysis of data to inform decisions, executing clear and logical plans that staff may follow, and ensure a strong connection between school learning goals and daily classroom activity.
- Consistently demonstrates and communicates the belief that students will perform at high levels when they have access to excellent teaching.
- Wants to lead specifically in fast growing community and conveys reasonable understanding of potential challenges involved in leadership with divergent needs of the school.
- Develop and maintain a school mission and vision that is consistent with the mission and vision of the District.
- Lead the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program while providing instructional models for all staff that maximizes achievement for all students.
- Supervises all instructional staff in meeting District and State Curriculum Standards.
- Promotes a positive, healthy and safe school climate to maximize student achievement and staff productivity.
- Regularly observes each teacher in the school to assess performance and to gather information that will lead to instructional improvement.
- Complete District, State and Federal reporting requirements as needed.
- Actively recruit, retain and hire highly qualified staff members.
- Initiate and support the professional development of all school staff members.
- Supervise and monitor the implementation of IEPs, READ Plans, inclusion and differentiation strategies.
- Supervise the daily use of the school facilities for both academic and non-academic purposes.
- Be responsible for the development of the school schedule and for special assignments.
- Keep superintendent informed of events/activities of an unusual nature, i.e. racial confrontations, bomb threats, fire, vandalism, visits by dignitaries, as well as routine matters related to superintendent’s accountability.
Qualifications / Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Bonding, and or Testing Required:
- Colorado Type D, School Administrator endorsed School Principal.
- Master’s degree in Education Administration, Curriculum Leadership, or related field.
- Relevant prior experience, including three (3) years of successful teaching, administrative or equivalent leadership experience.
- Four (4) years of successful administrative experience is desired.
- Oral and written fluency in second language is preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
Physical Demands: Standing, walking & sitting. Continuous hand dexterity. Occasional reach with hands and arms. The work requires constant seeing, hearing, and talking. Ability to lift or carry up to 10 pounds, occasionally Up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment: Work is performed under normal office conditions and there are minimal environmental risks or disagreeable conditions associated with the work. Work involves continuous contacts and interactions with the students, parents and the public.
FLSA: Exempt
Days / Terms of Employment: 200 Days / Nine-month position. Salary to be determined by the School Board of Education.
