Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to providing inclusive and individualized education to students with diverse learning needs. As a Middle School Special Education Teacher, you will collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and parents to create a positive and effective learning environment that fosters the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Individualized and Group Instruction:
    • Develop and implement personalized learning plans for students with special needs, tailoring instruction to meet their unique learning styles, abilities, and challenges.
    • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, adaptive materials, and assistive technologies to enhance student engagement and comprehension.
    • Plan daily group instruction in either ELA or Math to target specific skills, using a variety of different curricula and supports 

 

  • Collaboration & Compliance:
    • Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to create an inclusive classroom environment that supports the success of all students.
    • Attend and actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings for a caseload of 10 students, collaborating with parents, special education team members, and other stakeholders to address students’ academic and behavioral needs.

  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
    • Conduct ongoing assessments and analyze data to identify students’ strengths and areas of growth.
    • Monitor and track student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Behavioral and Emotional Support:
    • Implement positive behavior support strategies to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
    • Provide social-emotional learning (SEL) guidance and support to help students develop essential life skills and cope with challenges.

  • Professional Development:
    • Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in special education.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge in the field.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related content field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (preferred) or desire to obtain certification (we can help you!) 
  • Experience working with middle school students with a range of disabilities.

 

  • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.

Salary Range: $45,000.00- $65,173.4
