Instructional Support Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLDE) Instructional Facilitator
Job Description
PRIMARY DUTIES – The following are examples of primary duties assigned to the position. Other related primary duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
- Ensures alignment, consistency, and continuous improvement in all aspects of programming for emerging bilingual students.
- Ensures emerging bilingual students are making adequate growth in English Language Development (ELD) and in academic area
- Models best practice instruction, designs and delivers professional development which develops educator effectiveness.
- Provides constructive feedback and ongoing assistance to new and existing teachers during informal observations and walk-throughs.
- Works collaboratively with teachers, administrators and other instructional facilitators to identify instructional areas needing improvement/intervention; attends team meetings when necessary and leadership team meetings.
- Develops, coordinates and facilitates new teacher orientation for new CLDE Team members, ELD Teachers, Spanish Literacy/Language Arts Teachers
- Assists in determining the effectiveness of the district’s curriculum and instructional practices in meeting the needs of emerging bilingual students; assists the Director of CLDE with curricular initiatives or adoption.
- Supports the development, implementation and evaluation of common formative language assessments.
- Supports teachers and administrators in establishing results teams and data cycles, analyzing data and using data to inform decisions at the classroom and school level.
- Partners with principals in supporting teachers and holding them accountable for program implementation and student achievement and growth.
- Assists in the coordination and implementation of the Colorado Academic Standards.
- Assists in the coordination and implementation of school and district goals as defined in the annual Culturally and LInguistically Diverse Education Program Reviews.
- Mentors, coaches and provides professional development for teachers.
- Keeps current regarding developments in bilingual education, English Language Development, the Translanguaging Pedagogy, curriculum, instruction and assessment and provides leadership and training to all staff.
- Ensures the school adheres to policies and procedures for determining CLDE program eligibility, re-designation, monitoring and exiting.
- Collaborates with the school CLDE teams in making scheduling decisions.
- Works with problem solving teams to help determine the root cause and make appropriate placements into CLDE Instructional settings and/or Literacy Interventions for emerging bilingual students.
- Assists schools in implementation of the Deliberation Process and helps teams distinguish student concerns as stemming from language difference or a learning disability.
- Assists in supporting CLDE Coaches with regularly scheduled professional development sessions to enhance coaching skills, ensure alignment with the schools’ and District’s CLDE goals, and to continuously improve practices.
- Takes on several roles: resource provider, data coach, emerging bilingual education specialist, mentor, facilitator, leader and catalyst for change.
- Provides responsible staff assistance to the Director of CLDE; performs other duties as assigned.
