What Success Looks Like In This Job

The education supervisor is responsible for managing, organizing, executing, facilitating, and directing necessary functions of their assigned sites. The education supervisor is responsible for assuring the implementation of quality early childhood programs, state requirements, program rules, and regulations. Provide teachers, teacher assistants, and classroom aides with adequate observation, feedback, coaching, mentoring and supervision to promote developmentally appropriate teaching practices.

Examples of Duties for Success

 

  • Monitor and implement standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Support education staff with mentoring, coaching, and development.
  • Knowledge of education plans and curriculum implementation.
  • Ensure lesson plans comply with standards.
  • Foster cultural responsiveness and positive discipline.
  • Prioritize child supervision and safety.
  • Conduct regular supervision and respond to inquiries.
  • Collaborate across departments and assist in policy development.
  • Attend events and training for professional development.
  • Assist in staff selection and data reporting.
  • Facilitate education meetings and staff coverage; provide coverage for work assignments within Adams County if regularly scheduled personnel are unavailable.
  • Demonstrate the flexibility to perform duties at various Headstart centers when needed.
  • Manage high-intensity situations and ensure timely task completion.
  • Ability to maintain calm and take appropriate action under stressful situations.
  • Abide by restrictions and promote a positive work environment.
  • Maintain open and respectful communication practices.
  • Utilize technology for communication and maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform other required duties as necessary.
  • Exercises direct supervision over staff.

  • Complete Teaching Strategies GOLD inter-reliability certificate yearly.
  • Demonstrate proficient computer skills and use of Microsoft software.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Proper English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Provide training, counseling, and technical assistance to staff and parents regarding educational issues/programs.
  • Interpret and explain Head Start Program policies and procedures.
  • Learn and apply the policies and procedures of the Head Start program and the Head Start Performance Standards.
  • Demonstrate a professional and positive attitude and appearance.
  • Demonstrate and follow County norms and values.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to serve and a passion for exceeding customer service expectations.
  • Safely operate an automobile.

  • More Qualifications for Success: 
    • Experience:
      • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in early childhood education, child development, teaching, and curriculum planning.
      • Must include a minimum of 2 years’ supervisory/leadership experience.
    • Education and Training:
      • Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
      • OR Bachelor of Arts degree with major course work in early childhood education or related field from an accredited college or university.
    • License or Certificate: 
      • Teaching License preferred
      • Director certification or level 3 or higher on Colorado Shines PDIS
      • Valid Colorado Driver’s License and Proof of vehicle insurance
        • A Motor Vehicle record check will be conducted
      • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification
      • Ability to obtain a medication administration certificate
    • Background Check: 
      • Ability to pass multiple criminal backgrounds and Central Registry checks
      • A fingerprint check may be conducted
      • A Motor Vehicle record check will be conducted
    • Other: 
      • Must complete physical examination and TB test upon hire
      • Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, and climb
      • Ability to lift-up to 45 pounds
    • Exposure to childhood diseases
