The 3rd Grade Math Teacher:

Education and Experience
– Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate in appropriate grade level and/or content
– Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards staff and students
– Two years of teaching experience preferred
– High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment relationships based on observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
– High quality written and verbal communication skills
– High proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook
– Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred
– Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom Culture and Student Development
– Implement MPA curriculum & instructional practices
– Relentlessly work to meet all goals related to student achievement and culture as well as Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) goals
– Develop, administer, and/or facilitate assessments to determine student math levels
– Create instructional math plans to match student ability and learning styles
– Deliver highly effective daily lessons based on student need and rooted in research-based instructional practices
– Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, guiding scholars through math activities to help them overcome obstacles
– Create a joyful, caring, and loving classroom environment for all students
– Integrate culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues
– Consult with parents and teachers to recommend at-home strategies to improve math skills
– Communicate regularly with families regarding the academic and social-emotional growth of their child
– Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms, inside the classroom and beyond
– Incorporate 21st-century technology skills into daily classroom practice and team settings
– Participate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities such as social events and field trips
Organization and Collaboration
– Partner with colleagues to employ teaching/learning strategies that promote math comprehension
– Maintain current and efficient records including the preparation of reports, data visuals, and presentations
– Assist in the creation and implementation of after-school and/or math tutoring programs
– Model successful math instruction in elementary and/or middle school classrooms
– Collaborate and communicate effectively, humbly, and respectfully with all colleagues
– Other related duties as assigned by the School Leader/Principal
