Salary: $105,529-161,781 (2023-2024 salary schedule)
– placement is dependent upon education and experience
– 261 day contract
Description:
An Assistant Director of Special Education position is anticipated for the 2024-2025 school year, at Central Office.
Job Function:
To provide special education leadership across the district. Primary responsibilities (a) Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services, Director of Special Education, and Special Education Coordinators to plan, monitor, and evaluate programs for students with special needs from 0-21 years of age; (b) work closely with school administration to ensure high quality instruction progress, monitoring, and IEP development for students with special needs; (c) attend IEP meetings to mediate and facilitate decision making for students with special needs; (d) Supervise coordinators and itinerant personnel and conduct performance evaluations; (e) collaborate with the Directors and Assistant Superintendents to plan and conduct professional development activities that enhance programs and services for students with special needs; (f) administrative oversight for post-secondary transition program.
Qualifications:
– Minimum five years education experience
– Possess a MA Degree or higher
– Administrative experience preferred.

District Profile:
Fountain-Fort Carson School District Eight spans an area of approximately 150 square miles. The city of Fountain, Fort Carson Military Installation, Rock Creek Township, and several surrounding rural areas all fall within the District parameters. Fountain-Fort Carson School District Eight has experienced consistent growth.
Fountain-Fort Carson School District Eight includes eight elementary schools, two dedicated preschools, and several preschool programs located within the district. Four of the elementary schools and a preschool are located in the city of Fountain (Aragon, Jordahl, Mesa, Eagleside Elementary schools, and Conrad Early Learning Center) while the other four elementary schools (Abrams, Patriot, Mountainside, and Weikel Elementary and Weikel Preschool) are located on Fort Carson. The district has two middle schools. Fountain Middle School is located in the city of Fountain and Carson Middle School is located on Fort Carson. The district’s two high schools, Fountain-Fort Carson High School and Welte Education Center, are both located in the city of Fountain.
