Instructional Support Barone Middle School Counselor
Job Description
Meeker School District Re-1 is seeking qualified individuals to fill the open Middle School Counselor position who assists students in their personal development to support the learning process.
Meeker School District has an approximate enrollment of 720 students in grades Pre-K through Twelve. Barone Middle School has approximately 175 students 6th-8th. We are seeking an individual who has the understanding of the intellectual, social, and emotional needs of school aged students. The Meeker Re-1 School District is seeking an enthusiastic person who wants to join a staff committed to “Excellence in all we do”.
Job Functions/Qualifications:
- It is imperative that the person employed in this position display, at all times,acceptable professional and ethical standards. These expectations are as

toward others
- Works with students on an individual basis to help solve personal problemsrelated to home and family relationships, peer relationships, health and emotional
adjustments.
- Works with students in small groups to help solve personal problems related tohome and family relations, peer relationships, health and emotional adjustments.
- Works with students in need of de-escalation and conflict resolution
- Confers with parents whenever necessary.
- Advises administrators and faculty on matters of student discipline.
- Assists in RTI/MTSS meetings.
- Works to discover and develop special abilities of students as well as helpingstudents resolve educational handicaps.
- Takes an active role in interpreting the school’s objectives to students, parentsand the community.
- Assists in writing and implementation of 504 plans, ICAP, and other studentspecific plans as needed
- At least three years of successful teaching experience
- A valid license as a school counselor, school psychologist, or working toward avalid license
- A master’s degree, or equivalent, representing intensive coursework in theprinciples and practices of educational guidance, testing and measurement,
counseling, administration of guidance services and the psychology of learning.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as district administration and theschool board may find appropriate and acceptable

- Salary negotiable based upon qualifications and experience
