SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

The Chief of Student Experience and Success champions all students and ensures their active participation in learning and development. This includes accountability for the quality of student support structures, the efficacy of teaching practices and student experiences in the classroom, the impact of specialized instructional practices and student services, and the processes for ensuring active student participation in learning and development.

Core Responsibilities:

The Chief of Student Experience and Success will be a driving force in shaping student learning experience across the district. This leader will refine school support structures to maximize the impact of specialized instructional practices and student services. This role will provide leadership and direction to the Gifted and Talented, Multilingual Education, Special Education team, and College and Career Success teams, empowering them with the resources, tools, and support needed for success. In collaboration with the Chief of Instruction and the Chief of Curriculum, this role will focus on the success of each student in supporting the execution of the academic strategy, instructional framework, and pedagogical approach to achieve improved student outcomes. This involves developing programs to address diverse student needs, ensuring compliance, and partnering with outside agencies. The Chief of Student Experience and Success will be a key member of the Superintendent’s leadership team and will be responsible for increasing academic outcomes across all student subgroups. They will ensure research-based approaches and refined school support structures to maximize the impact of specialized instructional practices and student services focusing on meeting the unique needs of learners. The Chief will also champion future-ready initiatives, including College and Career Success programs and robust Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways aligned with workforce demands. The Chief of Student Experience and Success will foster collaborative leadership and team development, empowering content and coaching teams, facilitating cross-departmental collaboration, and using data to drive improvement and communicate student progress to stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lead and champion the district’s commitment to student experience and success.
  • Refine and optimize school support structures for specialized instruction and student services.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Gifted and Talented, Multilingual Education, Special Education, College and Career Success teams, Counseling, Homebound Instruction, Student Services, and Student Engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Chief of Instruction and Chief of Curriculum on academic strategy, instructional framework, and pedagogy.
  • Drive student achievement and expand learning opportunities for all students, focusing on MLL, students with disabilities, and gifted students.
  • Ensure research-based instructional programs are aligned with student growth and development objectives.
  • Oversee programs for diverse student populations, ensuring compliance with all regulations (IEPs, language acquisition plans, gifted programming).
  • Streamline departmental collaboration for seamless instructional support.
  • Develop comprehensive career-connected experiences and post-secondary planning and communication systems.
  • Lead College and Career Success initiatives, including CTE and Future Centers.
  • Utilize data-driven adjustments to maximize program effectiveness and student outcomes.
  • Address diverse student educational, physical, and emotional needs through comprehensive systems and programs.
  • Interpret, implement, and communicate relevant federal, state, and district laws, policies, and procedures related to student services, and ensure that all staff within the department are working cohesively to track, implement, and communicate key instructional programs.
  • Guide policy and program changes for consistent student achievement.
  • Establish collaborative structures for maximizing specialized instruction and student services and cultivate leadership and team development.
  • Analyze student performance data and implement data-driven strategies to identify growth areas to close achievement gaps and improve student outcomes.
  • Maintain stakeholder transparency through regular communication of student progress.

Performs other related duties as assigned for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to develop positive, collaborative relationships to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strong facilitation/presentation skills to effectively design and lead adult professional learning.
  • Strategic thinking skills to enable the development of strategy and action planning for results.
  • Basic computer and word processing experience.
  • Knowledge of educational pedagogy as applied to the development and implementation of elementary and secondary instructional programs
  • Ability to provide leadership to the District in instructional programs
  • Ability to plan and direct instruction program development and implementation for the District
  • Ability to lead the work of teams, committees and work groups
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Knowledge of educational administration as applied to the development and implementation of educational program such as curriculum, instruction, assessment, evaluation and technology for the District
  • Knowledge of Colorado laws, rules and regulations governing instructional program development and implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree (required)

Master’s Degree (required) in related field (Curriculum and Instruction, educational research or educational administration)

Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in K-12 public education,with at least 3 years in school based or central department leadership roles.

Demonstrated development of curriculum and instructional programs and teaching

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work is performed in a typical office environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity, and is performed in office surroundings.  Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs; bend; reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer keyboards.  The work requires the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.

SALARY RANGE
From: $140,000 to $170,000/year

Per approval by the Board of Education: All Executive Professional employees shall be allocated $1500 annually towards a Professional Development Fund (PDF). Amount allocated will be prorated based upon date and length of hire. Rules and restrictions of use provided in the Executive Professional Meet and Confer Handbook – ARTICLE 8. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND.

Mileage:

Per annual approval by the Board of Education: Employees shall be reimbursed at the rate established by the Board when a privately owned automobile is required to be used in the performance of official duty. Rules and restrictions of use provided in the Certified Teachers CSEA Master Agreement – Article 10.6 TEACHING CONDITIONS/ASSIGNMENTS and/or the Educational Support Professional Meet and Confer Handbook – 17.4 MILEAGE ALLOWANCE.
