Job Description
Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000, Dependent on qualifications and experience for 240 day contract. Excellent benefit package! FLSA: Exempt
Work Year: 240 Days; generally follows LCSD Calendar with additional administration days.
Start date: approx. July 1, 2024
The Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer in Lake County School District is a significant leadership position that is responsible for the success of multiple district functions. The CFO/COO is responsible for leading a team of managers and directors to oversee the District’s financial and business affairs, human resources, building operations, information technology and systems, transportation, and a variety of student activities and services. The CFO/COO works closely with the superintendent to ensure that schools and the community are being adequately served by the departments under her or his purview. The CFO/COO will work closely with the superintendent to develop a plan for managing and monitoring the health and success of each of the departments that he or she oversees.
Responsibilities:
- Fundamental responsibility for overseeing and ensuring the success of the following support departments and district functions:
- Budget/accounting/grants fiscal
- Respond to various reporting requirements including the Consolidated Application
- Human resources/payroll & benefits
- Student information management
- Information technology
- Facilities, operations & maintenance
- Food service
- Transportation
- Other areas as needed and determined in cooperation with the superintendent
- Data analysis as appropriate
- Directly lead, supervise and evaluate the following employees:
- Director of Maintenance
- Human Resources Director
- Accounting Manager
- IT Managers
- Food Service Director
- Transportation Director
- Custodial Director
- Financial/Payroll manager
- Lead budget creation & monitoring
- Lead and implement building facility needs and projects (including BEST grants and possible Bond initiatives)
- Manage assets of the District, including land and other assets
- Lead long-term capital planning with Superintendent
- Lead & coordinate grant writing, monitoring & reporting (entitlement and competitive)
- Write grants (entitlement and competitive)
- Lead annual financial audit, with Accounting Manager
- Lead CDE finance reporting & relationships
- Lead finance compliance & finance policy development
- Oversee federal programs in cooperation with superintendent/Title I Director
- Oversee emergency communications systems
- Lead capital project/maintenance planning
- Lead technology business planning
- Oversee contracts and insurance
- Co-lead employee association relationships and negotiations with Superintendent
- Work cooperatively with other district leaders
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required; MBA or similar degree preferred
- Minimum of three years of experience in business services, related fields or education required
- A commitment to equity and increasing access for all students and employees
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in budgeting, grant writing, communications
- Demonstrated skills in dealing with a variety of people in complex situations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative manner with supervisors, administrators and staff
- Demonstrated effectiveness as a leader
- Understanding of employee relations
- Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse populations
- Possess current knowledge/training in the areas of budgeting and communications

- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
- Ability to pass all fingerprinting required for school district
