Job Description
Role Mission
Rocky Mountain Prep’s Chief People Officer leads the organization’s strategic efforts in recruitment, staffing, professional development, talent management, compensation, and benefits, along with overall organizational health and retention of staff. The CPO will be charged with modernizing RMP’s professional development, talent management practices, leadership development pipeline, and general compensation philosophy to help RMP achieve its mission at scale and continue to grow in its effectiveness. The ideal candidate will possess the vision to help us re-strategize our entire people management philosophy and systems with the practical leadership skills to communicate and inspire around a clear vision, build the management systems and structures to teach it to everyone in the organization, and respond to real-time data and make adjustments. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have sound judgment and coaching skills as they will often be building all the managers’ capacity to make good human capital decisions.
During the 2021-2022 school year, RMP is driving after five big goals:
- Kindergarten through second-grade students will grow, on average, 1.5 years in math and reading.
- Students receiving interventions will, on average, grow 2 years in reading.
- Third- through fifth-grade students taking CMAS will score an average of 45% on track for the next grade level with 10% scoring exceeds expectations.
- Average Daily Attendance at each RMP school will be at least 96%.
- At least 90% of students who start at RMP, stay at RMP. (We call this the Persistence Goal.)
Each member of the organization plays a part in achieving these goals. School-based staff members will work towards 2 or 3 metrics that are aligned to both their individual roles AND the Big 5. These metrics vary by position and are subject to change for the 2022-2023 school year. As the Chief People Officer, you will be held accountable for some of these goals.
Accountabilities
- 100% of staff members are hired by the first day of work calendar/professional development (e.g. leader PD, NTT), inclusive of all instructional, operations, and Network Support Team roles
- 85% staff retention with no gaps along the lines of race
- 90% of leadership positions are filled with a high-quality internal candidate
- 45/10% average on Colorado Measures of Academic Success across all schools
- K-2nd graders achieve 1.5 years of growth averages across all schools
- 90% of principals, principals in residence, and assistant principals of instruction are highly effective in the prioritized Rocky Mountain Prep school leadership levers
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly manages the Director of Staffing. The Talent Recruiter, who the Director of Staffing manages, is also on the people team. The Chief People Officer will have dotted-line relationships with almost everyone in the organization.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience with significant experience in coaching and developing systems, structures, and pipelines to support leadership development and succession planning.
- Must be willing to work over 40 hours per week with some nights and weekends.
Preferred:
- Principal experience is highly preferred.
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Specialist in Human Resources (SHRM) certification preferred
Salary
Rocky Mountain Prep offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The salary range for this position is $120-$130,000 annually.
