Position Summary
The Morgridge College of Education (MCE) at the University of Denver (DU) invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Department (ELPS) beginning June 1, 2022. This is a benefited, non-tenure track, full-time, 12-month clinical faculty position. As a full-time ELPS faculty member, the Clinical Assistant Professor will participate in all faculty activities, including teaching courses, advising students, participating in the recruitment and admissions process, and attending department meetings.
The successful applicant will have primary responsibilities in the principal certification program. The ELPS Principal Certificate Program is approved by the Colorado Department of Education. It was ranked 25th in the US News and World Report in 2021.
Essential Functions
The roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Teach graduate level courses, with an emphasis on principal preparation.
- Advise ELPS graduate students and supervise principal internships.
- Work collaboratively with ELPS faculty and staff to accomplish program goals.
- Collaborate with partner schools, community partners, and state agencies.
- Participate in recruitment, admissions events, retention, and orientation of ELPS graduate students. with the ELPS Department Chair and other colleagues.
- Perform teaching, research, and service activities as described in the Clinical Faculty Appointment and Promotion Guidelines.
- Maintain and grow the departments commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The ideal candidate demonstrates experience and versatility in inclusive pedagogy. We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion through their teaching, service, and research.
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in education (PhD or EdD) with an emphasis in Educational Leadership or Policy Studies.
- Background and teaching experience in educational leadership and policy studies
- Prior teaching and leadership experience in preK-12 schools/districts with diverse student populations.
- Leadership experience in K-12, academic, community, non-profit, or professional organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion and a track record of demonstrable outcomes leading to a more inclusive environment; supports internships/clinical experiences
- Expertise in equity and social justice leadership.
- Active research agenda commensurate with a clinical line.
- Expertise in scholarly areas such as the principal pipeline, equity leadership, principal preparation, professional development, or school improvement.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is UC.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $72,000 – $76,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
