Marketing and Communications Communications Specialist
Job Description
The Communications Specialist provides communication services to CASB members to promote greater participation in CASB services and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of school board members. In addition, the Communications Specialist provides coordinating support for the Director of Strategic Engagement & Communications and assists the strategic and operational team members with tasks necessary to provide the best possible services to the CASB membership.
Job Responsibilities
- Creates printed publications for CASB members.
- Serves as primary proofreader for all publications and written communications.
- Creates and coordinates electronic newsletters.
- Maintains CASB database by keeping member information accurate and current.
- Updates existing infographics, including advocacy graphics, and other member fact sheets and resources.
- Posts regularly on CASB social media channels.
- Interfaces with outside graphic artists, printers, mail house, and photographers for the production and distribution of regular CASB publications and promotional materials as needed.
- Prepares presentation materials and handouts.
- Provides support in the creation and posting of content on the website.
- Learns new technology and software, as needed, to maintain and update communication tools.
- Assists in the marketing of CASB services.
- Produces and distributes all press releases.
- Handles communication inquiries.
- Contributes to team effort by supporting other staff as needed.
- Completes other tasks, as assigned by the Director of Strategic Engagement & Communications or the Executive Director.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in the communications field.
- Experience in K-12 education.
- Advanced writing, editing, and proof-reading skills.
- Advanced database and digital media skills.
- Proficiency in social media.
- Ability to meet multiple deadline demands.
- Ability to manage projects, including quality control.
- Experience in problem solving and decision making.
- A genuine desire to work with people to improve public education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various communication tools.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
- Experience with supporting other staff in learning software applications.
Industry: Education
Salary: CASB will offer a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, within the range of $60,000 – $70,000.
