Position Title: CTE – Construction/Engineering Teacher Direct Supervisor: Building Principal Contracted Length TermTeacher – 178 Days Salary Schedule: Teacher (range $43,000 - $66,779 based on the 23/24 salary schedule, education and related experience) Additional stipend for coaching the Skills USA program may apply. Summary of Position: The High School Construction Trades and Engineering Teacher will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive curriculum that prepares students for entry-level jobs in the construction industry or post-secondary education in construction-related fields, as well as engineering-related fields. The teacher will work with students to develop their practical skills, theoretical knowledge, safety awareness in construction trades, and engineering principles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain appropriate curriculum that will support program objectives.
  • Utilize a variety of professional teaching techniques to demonstrate current methods of construction.
  • Support hands-on learning and demonstration using tools of the trade and practicing proper safety guidelines.
  • Designs lessons based on best practices with clear learning targets and measurable goals aligned with State standards and/or unit outcomes.
  • Coach the SkillsUSA student organization to prepare students for competition and to promote leadership and teamwork skills. Some travel may be required.
  • Frequently plans collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, discipline and learning problems.
  • Provide direct supervision to all students while tools and equipment are in operation.
  • Accurately and punctually submit all information needed for grading and attendance.
  • Participate in district Career and Technical Education (CTE) activities and complete all CTE requirements, including state reporting.
  • Maintains student confidentiality.
  • Attend all staff meetings as required.
*All other duties as assigned. Education/Certification: *  U.S. service members and veterans may meet content knowledge requirements for CTE credentials as follows: 
  • Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy or Space Force members: three or more years active duty
  • Guard/Reserve members: 10 years experience, or 5 years experience with 12 months active-duty deployment
  • Specialty (MOS), the time of service and an honorable discharge must be verified on a DD-214-member copy 4 (submitted in application)
Experience: Three years teaching experience preferred in technical skills, trade or vocational areas. Prior teaching experience is not required to obtain a CTE credential.   • General office procedures, policies, and practices.

  • Project management principles, practices, and methods.
  • Technology devices and software
  • Organizational methods and how to implement them in a classroom setting.

Physical Requirements: The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.  
  • Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 5 to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • This type of work involves sitting, walking, and/or standing.
  • Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
  • Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handling and working with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
  • CBI/FBI background clearance and a clean driving record.
