Instructional Support Culture and Climate Coach

Job Description

CA is seeking to fill two full-time Culture and Climate Coach roles for the 2023-2024 academic year. One will work primary with grades PreK-8th and the other with grades 9th-12th. The primary function of these roles will be to: provide leadership, expertise, and support to the office of inclusivity’s work on improving school culture and climate which includes restorative practices, culturally responsive teaching, trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional learning in grades PK-12. Provide ongoing, job-embedded learning and support to faculty to build the instructional capacity and effectiveness that support culturally responsive teaching practice. These positions report directly to the Director of Culture and Community.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide support and resources to staff on schoolwide and classroom climate and culture practices such as classroom  management, discipline practices and protocols, and social-emotional learning.
  • Serves as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student behavior and social-emotional needs and ensures faculty have the resources necessary to address students’ social-emotional and behavioral needs.
  • Provide coaching and modeling of culturally responsive practices by supporting instruction that improves student learning, lesson design, instructional deliver ,and assessments that promote equitable student experiences.
  • Assist grade-level teams in designing and implementing positive reinforcement of classroom systems to build an interactive classroom environment focused on the academic and social-emotional success of grade-level content and effective instructional strategies.
  • Develop and conduct learning sessions for students, faculty, staff, and parents on positive interventions and supports, classroom management, character education, restorative justice, culturally responsive teaching, healing-centered practices, and social-emotional learning.
  • Conduct learning sessions and modeling for faculty implementing discipline intervention, and social-emotional or behavioral instruction to support individuals or groups of students who need additional skill development.
  • Collect, aggregate, and analyze school-level academic and behavioral data.
  • Attend learning sessions and meetings necessary to develop job skills.
  • Conduct and coordinate learning opportunities to support student achievement.
Requirements

 

Specific Skills and Qualifications:

Ability to:

  • Implement instructional programs.
  • Identify and determine the nature of students’ problems, evaluate urgency, and act to alleviate concerns.
  • Conduct demonstration lessons, one-on-one observations, and coaching, and facilitate group observations to ensure faculty have been trained to an advanced level of delivery and are using the instructional materials as designed, as needed.
  • Support faculty in collaborative grade level and department meetings as assigned to assist in the analyzing and utilizing data to improve student academics and behaviors, as needed.
  • Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development activities as provided.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with faculty, staff, students, parents, and the public.
  • Prepare forms, records, and reports as directed.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as directed.
  • Speak and write effectively.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Specific knowledge of:

  • Curriculum design and mapping.
  • Effective culturally responsive teaching and learning; instructional strategies for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Assessments to guide instruction.
  • How to design and present professional development activities.
  • Practices that promote increased student-positive behavioral instructional support and learning outcomes.
  • Conducting instructional coaching cycles with division principals/leads.
  • Conducting group observations.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Five plus (5+) years of teaching experience and in particular, demonstrated success in culturally responsive teaching and learning.

The pay range for this for the position is $70,000 – $90,000.  Colorado Academy reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.  Any discrepancies that may exist do not relate to sex.  The Academy offers an excellent compensation package, wide-ranging opportunities for professional development, and an environment notable for its dedicated teaching professionals and supportive administrators.  Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance benefit programs are available, as is a 403(b) retirement plan.
