School Network Staff Director of Academics: Literacy
Job Description
About the Role
This role is based on our Network Support Team and will be responsible for the program management of our EL Education curriculum implementation for all grades.
In this role, you will:
- Direct the implementation of EL Education Curriculum in grades K-5
- Provide professional development and coaching to school leadership regarding curriculum implementation and literacy instruction
- Provide professional development and coaching to teachers regarding curriculum implementation and literacy instruction
- Analyze network-wide data to determine progress toward goals and isolate next steps in literacy instruction
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of lead teaching experience in a public elementary school
- 1+ years of experience in leadership and coaching (either as an administrator or teacher leader)
- Deep knowledge of the science of reading and classroom instruction techniques that lead to outstanding literacy results
- Experience with EL Education (or similar) curriculum is required
Preferred
- Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in literacy instruction
- 2+ years of experience as a school administrator or district leader with direct teacher coaching and professional development responsibilities
- Specialized training in research-based literacy intervention (e.g. Orton-Gillingham)
- Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse students and families
