Teacher DISTRICT EMBEDDED COACH (TOSA): Individualized Education (SpEd) (4 Open Positions)
Job Description
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
The District Embedded Coach (DEC) Individualized Education is an instructional coaching role dedicated to supporting teachers in improving classroom practices to enhance learning outcomes for students with individualized needs. Working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and staff, the DEC provides ongoing, job-embedded coaching grounded in data-driven, research-based instructional strategies. Areas of focus include instructional strategy expertise, curriculum and instruction, technology integration, strategies for increasing student agency, data analysis and assessment practices, and facilitating professional development. The DEC uses coaching cycles, modeling, co-teaching, and reflective practices to build teacher capacity and support continuous instructional improvement across the district.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide job-embedded instructional coaching through cycles of observation, modeling, co-teaching, feedback, and reflection.
- Collaborate with the Network Academic Director, Area Superintendents, C&I Facilitators, and Chiefs to ensure consistent implementation of best instructional and assessment practices across the district.
- Support standards implementation, curriculum adoptions, unit/module planning, and the use of high-impact instructional strategies.
- Mentor and support new teachers, contributing to induction programs and ongoing teacher development, including the development of high quality IEPs.
- Work with educators to develop, implement, and refine instructional strategies aligned with district goals and academic standards.
- Participate in leadership teams, committees, and task forces as assigned to support district-wide instructional priorities.
- Deliver ongoing, job-embedded professional development informed by student achievement and growth data.
- Coach toward instructional practices that promote student-centered learning and foster student agency.=
- Collaborate with the Academics team to ensure cohesive messaging, aligned support systems, and unified instructional initiatives across schools.
- Coordinate and work alongside other instructional coaches to meet goals outlined in school and district improvement/action plans.
- Support Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) by assisting with collaborative, reflective instructional decision-making.
- Help maintain and curate the district’s online instructional resources, tools, and platforms.
Uphold and implement Academic Department expectations, procedures, and initiatives. - Assist teachers in interpreting and using data to drive informed, strategic instructional decisions.
- Engage in continuous professional learning through reading, research, and collaboration to inform and enhance coaching practices.
- Other Related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Knowledge of educational pedagogy as applied to programming
- Ability to provide direct coaching through a variety of strategies.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Demonstrated abilities in establishing and maintaining trust
- Demonstrate knowledge of MTSS and PLC processes

QUALIFICATIONS
Current Colorado (CDE) SPED teacher licensure (required)
Five or more years of proven, successful classroom teaching experience (required)
Prior experience as an instructional coach (preferred)
Master’s degree in Instruction & Curriculum or Leadership (preferred)
Experience providing professional development (preferred)
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to Director of Academics
Works collaboratively with facilitators and school/district-wide coaching personnel
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is performed in a typical office environment and in schools.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is partly sedentary with periods of light physical activity. Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 50 pounds; climb stairs; reach for items; and use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards. The work requires the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.

| SALARY RANGE
D11 are placed on the appropriate lane and step of the teacher salary schedule based on two factors which include: a) the educational background of the applicant and The minimum in-hire salary for a this position is $50,500/yr and the maximum salary is $78,301/yr The salary may change according to the schedule adopted by the Board of Education for the 25-26 contract year. If the Teacher works part-time, the salary will be adjusted based on their Full-Time Equivalency (FTE) and start date. |
