SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

The Executive Director of Student Pathways is responsible for leading, creating, and managing programs that support students’ transitions from middle school to high school, and ensure they demonstrate Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness . This role focuses on ensuring students have access to diverse pathways that prepare them for college, careers, and lifelong success.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Leadership and Vision:

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for secondary pathways, including college readiness, work based learning, career and technical education (CTE), and other post-secondary opportunities.
  • Set and communicate a clear vision for student agency and pathway development.

Program Management:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of secondary pathway programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and policies.
  • Coordinate and supervise the administration of assessments, curriculum, and interventions to support student readiness.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Partner with school administrators, teachers, support staff, families, higher education institutions, and community organizations to support student pathways.
  • Provide coaching, professional development, and resources to educators and staff.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders to address student needs and program goals.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collect, analyze, and report data on student performance, program effectiveness, and pathway utilization.
  • Use data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Prepare and present reports to the school board, district leadership, and other stakeholders.

Resource Management:

  • Manage budgets and allocate resources to support program goals and priorities.
  • Seek and secure funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships, to enhance program offerings.

Advocacy and Policy Development:

  • Advocate for the needs of students in secondary pathways at the district, state, and national levels.
  • Develop and update policies and procedures to ensure equitable access to pathways for all students.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

 

  • Data analysis and interpretation to support student outcomes
  • Strategic planning and initiative execution
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence across teams and roles
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage programs, budgets, and staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in secondary education pathways.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field
  • Valid administrative certification or licensure.
  • CTE Director License or ability to obtain within one year of hire
  • Extensive experience in secondary education, college readiness, career and technical education, or related areas preferred

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS 

  • Reports to Chief of Student Experience and Success
  • Supervises assigned staff

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The work is performed in a typical office environment.
  • Full-time position with extended hours as needed.
  • Requires flexibility, adaptability, and comfort with dynamic priorities
  • Work primarily in an office setting with regular visits to schools and community sites.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

The work is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity, and is performed in office surroundings. Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs; bend; reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards.

PDF:

Per approval by the Board of Education: All Executive Professional employees shall be allocated $1500 annually towards a Professional Development Fund (PDF). Amount allocated will be prorated based upon date and length of hire. Rules and restrictions of use provided in the Executive Professional Meet and Confer Handbook – ARTICLE 8. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND.

Mileage:

Per annual approval by the Board of Education: Employees shall be reimbursed at the rate established by the Board when a privately owned automobile is required to be used in the performance of official duty. Rules and restrictions of use provided in the Certified Teachers CSEA Master Agreement – Article 10.6 TEACHING CONDITIONS/ASSIGNMENTS and/or the Educational Support Professional Meet and Confer Handbook – 17.4 MILEAGE ALLOWANCE.
