SUMMARY OF FUNCTION
The Executive Director of Student Services is responsible for leading and managing the district’s mental health services, behavioral interventions, school discipline, and school nursing programs. This role ensures that students receive comprehensive support to promote their well-being, academic success, and overall development.
Leadership and Vision:
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for mental health services, behavioral interventions, school discipline, and school nursing programs.
- Set and communicate a clear vision for supporting student well-being and success.
- Set and communicate vision for the District 11 Student Code of Conduct and corresponding policies and regulations
Program Management:
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of mental health services, behavioral interventions, school discipline, and school nursing programs.
- Oversees the enforcement and communication of the District 11 Student Code of Conduct and corresponding policies and regulations.
- Conducts disciplinary hearings as the designee of the Superintendent and the Colorado Springs School District Board of Education.
- Monitors and revises District disciplinary and school attendance policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and guidelines.
- Aligns student discipline and attendance policies with District objectives.
- Updates building administrators regarding new laws, regulations and
- provides guidance regarding methods of compliance and best practices
- Coordinate and supervise the administration of services and interventions to support student needs.
- Oversee district wide Crisis Response Team
Collaboration and Support:
- Partner with school administrators, teachers, support staff, families, and community organizations to support student well-being.
- Provide coaching, professional development, and resources to educators and staff.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among stakeholders to address student needs and program goals.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect, analyze, and report data on student outcomes, program effectiveness, and service utilization.
- Use data to inform decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
- Prepare and present reports to the school board, district leadership, and other stakeholders.
Resource Management:
- Manage budgets and allocate resources to support program goals and priorities.
- Seek and secure funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships, to enhance program offerings.
Advocacy and Policy Development:
- Advocate for the needs of students in the areas of mental health services, behavioral interventions, school discipline, and school nursing programs.at the district, state, and national levels.
- Develop and update policies and procedures to ensure equitable access to services for all students.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Knowledge of educational law and evidence based practices that support students with mental health and/or special education needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Ability to develop, implement, and lead special education programs for the District
- Ability to lead a robust improvement process in:
- Identification process within MTSS framework
- Ability to communicate effectively
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, School Psychology Nursing, or a related field
- Valid administrative certification or licensure.
- Extensive experience in mental health services, school discipline, behavioral interventions, and/or school nursing. (Preferred)
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage programs, budgets, and staff effectively.
- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in student services.

Reports to the Chief of Student Experience and Success
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Full-time position with extended hours as needed.
- Requires flexibility, adaptability, and comfort with dynamic priorities
- Work primarily in an office setting with regular visits to schools and community sites.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity. Typical positions require workers to walk or stand for long periods; lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs, bend, reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer or typewriter keyboards.

PDF:
Per approval by the Board of Education: All Executive Professional employees shall be allocated $1500 annually towards a Professional Development Fund (PDF). Amount allocated will be prorated based upon date and length of hire. Rules and restrictions of use provided in the Executive Professional Meet and Confer Handbook – ARTICLE 8. Mileage:
Per annual approval by the Board of Education: Employees shall be reimbursed at the rate established by the Board when a privately owned automobile is required to be used in the performance of official duty. Rules and restrictions of use provided in the Certified Teachers CSEA Master Agreement – Article 10.6 TEACHING CONDITIONS/ASSIGNMENTS and/or the Educational Support Professional Meet and Confer Handbook – 17.4 MILEAGE ALLOWANCE.
