WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
CSI is looking for a grant and accounting technician to join the Finance team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft excel and word, detail-oriented, able to adapt to changes in process and new funding streams, able to prioritize work while consulting with management, responsive to the needs of the organization and CSI schools, and enjoys working with a team. CSI values and actively prioritizes the autonomy of the schools we oversee. The ideal candidate will be able to support schools in their compliance with grant requirements through strong customer service skills.
At a minimum, we are looking for candidates who have all of the following:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of general accounting or grants fiscal experience
- Proficiency in the following Microsoft Excel skills: copy/paste, sorting and filtering data, formulas: sum/sumif, count/countif, creation of drop down lists, conditional formatting, formulas to perform basic mathematical functions.
- All final candidates must successfully pass a thorough criminal background check
Ideal candidates will have some, or all, of the following education, skills, and abilities:
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in related field (Accounting, Finance, Business, or other closely related field)
- 2-3 years of grants fiscal and/or general accounting
- Experience with accounting and/or grant management software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND ROLE-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.
- Process payments of state and federal grants, categorical funding, state equalization to CSI schools, external vendors, and employee reimbursements.
- Review requests for funds submissions from CSI schools to ensure completion, financial compliance, and budgetary alignment. Provide feedback to schools on request for funds Federal and State compliance
- Track assigned grants and work with other CSI staff in coordinating the workflow of these grants as needed, including securing required
- Complete monthly purchasing card account allocations and ensure proper supporting documentation (such as official function forms) are on file. Track and report spending violations.
- Secure necessary approvals and enter procurement documents in CORE (to include Purchase Orders, Documented Quotes and Request for Proposals).
- Assist Grants Fiscal Manager with quarterly and end of year reporting data entry and audit
- Enter data into the CSI grant management system.
- Assist the Grants Fiscal Manager with grant application completion
- Provide technical assistance and training to schools on the request for fund process and required quarterly and year-end financial
DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with other grant related assignments as needed
- Respond to audit verification requests and assist the Controller in completing other monthly reconciliations
- In coordination with the Finance Department, provide technical assistance and validate financial data for state and federal reporting

LOCATION & TRAVEL
The typical work location for this position is the CSI office in Downtown Denver, although due to the COVID-19 pandemic institute staff are currently working remotely.
