Job Description
The Assistant Principal for Instruction plays a key role in advancing high-quality teaching and learning at Lake County High School. This position supports teachers through clear feedback, data-driven collaboration, and professional growth aligned with the school’s Vision for Instruction. The role emphasizes building strong instructional practices, leading PLCs, and ensuring classroom engagement and clarity for all students. The Assistant Principal works closely with the principal, counseling team, and behavioral leadership to maintain alignment between academic and cultural systems. By combining instructional coaching, staff evaluation, and operational planning, this position helps sustain a culture of growth, consistency, and continuous improvement for both students and staff.
Salary for 200 Contract Days: $78,624 – $95,472; excellent benefits and 13 days PTO! Many weeks are 4 days!

Instructional Leadership
- Lead cycles of classroom observations and feedback focuses on clear learning targets, checks for understanding, and student engagement.
- Support teachers in implementing LCHS Vision for Instruction, Common Procedures, and Classroom Management Strategies.
- Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) aligned to school goals and teacher needs.
- Lead PLCS and department meetings with a focus on data analysis, student outcomes, and instructional refinement.
- Review student performance data with teachers.
Evaluation and Professional Growth
- Serve as an evaluator for assigned staff under the Colorado State Model Evaluation System.
- Provide actionable, growth-oriented feedback using evidence from observations, student work, and data.
- Co-develop individualized growth plans and professional learning goals with staff.
- Support new teacher orientation, mentoring, and coaching partnerships.
Operational and Collaborative Leadership
- Collaborate with the principal and counseling team on master schedule planning.
- Supervise assessment coordinator for state and district assessments.
- Ensure that state and district assessments operate smoothly and efficiently in collaboration with the assessment coordinator.
- Work collaboratively with the Cultural/Behavior Assistant Principal to ensure consistency between instructional practices and behavioral expectations.
- Review classroom data (grades, attendance, and behavior) weekly to identify students in need of Tier 2 and 3 academic support.
- Lead Academic MTSS process to ensure Tier 1 instruction addresses the majority of student needs before escalation.
- Participate in the Building Leadership Team and help guide the School Improvement Plan.
- Maintain regular visibility in classrooms and hallways to model leadership presence and engagement.
- Supervise student activities both during and after the instructional day.
- Support with and/or lead community facing events such as coffee talk, parent nights, conferences etc…

| Qualifications |
- Master’s Degree from an accredited University
- Current Colorado Teaching License with a minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience required.
- Valid Colorado Principal License or active enrollment in an approved principal licensure or alternative principal licensure program.
- Designated or eligible as a Trained Educator Evaluator under the Colorado State Model Evaluation System, or willingness to complete this qualification by June of 2027.
- Demonstrated success in instructional leadership, including observation and feedback cycles, PLC facilitation, and use of student data to drive instructional improvement.
- Strong ability to design and deliver professional learning aligned to school goals and teacher needs.
- Proven skills in organization, communication, technology integration, conflict resolution, and collaborative problem-solving within a secondary school setting.
- Experience working effectively with students, teachers/staff, parents, and community partners in a team-oriented environment.
- Proven ability to build fair, consistent systems that support the success of all students and staff.
- Excellent oral and written communication, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- A strong commitment to serving the unique strengths, needs, and aspirations of Lake County students.
- Bilingual Spanish is preferred, and not necessary for hiring.
