La Veta School District RE-2 is a rural district located at the base of the Spanish Peaks in beautiful Southern Colorado. We are a student-focused organization serving approximately 210 students in preschool through 12th grade. District activities are designed to maximize available resources in support of our mission to graduate lifelong learners and productive citizens.

Success begins early with an investment in pre-school and Kindergarten. We focus on incorporating music, art, and physical education as essential elements for learning in our early grades and beyond.
Secondary students receive support in their exploration of career and educational interests through:
- college credit in concurrent enrollment and dual credit classes,
- vocational classes with focus in Agri and conventional business activities,
- work/study,
- rigorous core content curriculums,
- and engaging elective courses.

Additionally, we make annual investments in salary and benefit packages and though we are rural, we are not remote! La Veta is an hour from Alamosa, Pueblo or Trinidad and three hours from Red Rocks Amphitheater. In 2022, we will move our school community into a brand new school building! We are currently seeking ambitious teachers to contribute to our team in the following areas:
- High School Science (Grades 9 – 12) with courses including Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, and Physics. Preference will be given to candidates qualified, or willing to become qualified, to teach concurrent enrollment at grades 11 and 12.
La Veta High School prides itself on pursuing excellence in academics and athletics. Coaching positions may also be available, including junior high volleyball and basketball, opportunities to assist or coach 6-man football, and junior high and high school track.
