Position Overview:
All positions require that the candidate be balanced in their ability to envision and execute. Housed within the Postsecondary Readiness department, the Internship Coordinator, like all staff, is in charge of pushing all areas of the school toward the mission and vision. The Internship Coordinator is in daily contact with partners, teachers, students, parents, and families and capitalizes on building community through these interactions.
The Internship Coordinator holds a broad view and has a deep understanding of postsecondary readiness preparation. They are committed to ensuring equitable access to high-quality real-world learning experiences such as job shadows and internships. They are tasked with co-designing and implementing systems to ensure students experience a challenging, rewarding, and purposeful internship experience with their mentor. To achieve this, the Internship Coordinator will train, monitor, and facilitate opportunities for reflection for both student interns and mentors. This position acts as a connector and liaison to ensure that students, teachers, families, and community partners have the tools they need to connect.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Coordinate internship program
- Court new and maintain current internship site relationships.
- Create and manage mentor training materials and systems for internship sites
- Train students to maintain a positive working relationship with their internship site
- Align internship opportunities with student career interests
- Complete regular site visits for internships to support sites and monitor student work
- Manage the electronic documents necessary for communicating with internship sites
- Manage partners and opportunities on the digital internship management software
Manage database of student PSR experiences
- Create and monitor postsecondary readiness intake information updating information as needed
- Monitor graduation requirements as they pertain to Colorado graduation requirements for competency and ICAP. Enter into student database as necessary
- Communicate PSR skills with families during quarterly Individualized Learning Plan meetings
- Work with all instructors to add postsecondary-related experiences for students in core classes
Coordinate GED, Dual Enrollment Experiences, and other learning experiences
- Support a small group of students pursuing their GED credential
- Provide structures and support Dual Enrollments (organization, academic support, advocacy, logistics, etc.)
- Report student progress to School Counselor for accurate record keeping
- Design and facilitate events for the community (i.e. FAFSA nights, PSR options family nights, partner orientation, etc.)
- Teach a senior class to support the extra tasks for seniors (FAFSA, post-secondary applications, ICAP, etc.)
Centralize communication for all stakeholders
- Create reports for staff to easily view student PSR pathways and experiences
- Ensure staff are prepared to communicate PSR with families during family conferences
- Create communication tools such as posters, digital media postings, and mailers
Experience:
Applicants must be Highly Qualified Teachers holding one of the following:
1) earn an endorsement or hold a degree in an assigned field,
2) pass a Colorado content test in an assigned field (e.g., PLACE, PRAXIS II),
3) earn 24 semester hours in the assigned field,
4) earn National Board Certification in an assigned field,
5) or pass a secondary multi-subject HOUSSE* provision)
OR possess a current Colorado Teaching License.
OR have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role
Have a minimum of 3 years of classroom experience in an alternative school
A qualified candidate will:
- Show a demonstrated belief in the vision and mission of RiseUp Community School
- Have experience with restorative justice and be able to speak to the 5 R’s in a school setting
- Have direct experience in program management, internship programming, and/or community development
- Be able to set and reach department goals using data and feedback to stay on track
- Hold an ELA-E certification or complete one within two years of the hire date
Compensation, Benefits, Schedule:
- Full-time Salary- $45,000 to $73,000/year based on experience and qualifications
- Comprehensive benefits (health, dental, vision)
- 1 course per day and 1 enrichment course per day
- 8:00-4:30 M-Th, 8:00-1:00 F
