Job Description

Legacy Academy is a tuition-free, K-8 charter school serving families from several communities in Elbert and Douglas counties. Legacy has a technology focus and is looking for individuals to join our innovative team.  We seek a Special Education Teacher for the 2022/23 school year. This teacher needs to be proficient in their content area(s), willing to maintain and enrich their expertise, and possess a strong desire to integrate technology in the classroom.

Responsibilities:

  • ability to work with and adapt to current technology innovations
  • implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
  • identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and educational needs
  • assists in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement
  • maintaining special education documentation using Frontline (formerly Enrich)
  • provides a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process
  • communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals regularly
  • collaborates effectively with both Special Education and General Education teachers to enhance the instructional environment
  • models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the community.
  • monitor and evaluate student progress
  • facilitate the IEP process through timely and effective communication with teachers, parents, administrators, and special services team members
  • maintain the privacy of student records and information

Job Qualifications:

Meet highly qualified status and hold a valid Colorado teaching certificate. A Master’s degree in special education is preferred. Must perform all teaching responsibilities as assigned, have strong classroom management skills, and strong content knowledge.

Reports to:  Principal / Assistant Principal/Dean of Students

Salary: $45,000 – $50,000 Based on experience and qualifications
