Principal or Vice Principal School Director
Job Description
The School Director (SD) serves as the school leader for 5280 High School. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this position is responsible for the oversight of all dimensions of the organization at 5280 including the implementation of the mission, vision, and design principles; management of staff and resources; and community relationships. The School Director leads 5280 staff and collaborates with the Executive Director to achieve student and organizational success at all levels.
- Develops, oversees, and supervises all aspects of 5280 High School to ensure school success and positive outcomes for students
- Maintains alignment between all school programs and the overall vision, mission and design principles of the school
- Consistently plans for efforts to achieve the strategic outcomes of all aspects of school health and growth, including but not limited to academics, recovery and wellness, support services, operations and financial health
- Ensures organizational success while also maintaining strong workplace wellness and care for employees
- Oversees human resources processes to ensure the hiring and supporting of high-quality staff
- Works with the Executive Director to develop, oversee, and manage safety and crisis plans and procedures
- Monitors progress on the school’s goals, including academic, recovery, fiscal, and operational goals; uses a data-driven decision-making process to improve outcomes
- Keeps stakeholders, including staff, families, students, the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors, informed of data trends and progress towards strategic foals
- Cultivates and maintains strong family and community partnerships
- Works with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to develop and monitor progress on the strategic plan and long-term goals
- Works with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop annual and long-term budgets to promote fiscal stability and adequately support the school’s programming. Ensure sound fiscal management across the school
- Oversees and manages school-level contracts and vendors
- Maintains alignment of school programs with the policies of the Board of Directors and with Staff and Student/Family Handbooks
- Oversees and manages school operations and facility management to ensure compliance, performance, crisis management, and safety
- Works with the Executive Director to ensure compliance with all legal and statutory obligations, and requirements of Denver Public Schools as the school’s authorizer, including charter renewal requirements and processes, and maintenance of Alternative Education Campus (AEC) designation
- Work collaboratively and professionally with coworkers and community contacts
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary commensurate with experience: $100,000-$125,000 / year

- Approximately three weeks of summer vacation and four weeks of school holidays and vacation
