Job Description
Qualifications:
1. MA Degree from an accredited college or university
2. Valid (or eligible) Colorado Special Services Provider License endorsed as a Social Worker or Counselor
3. Valid Driver’s License
4. Two years of experience in social work – experience in a school setting preferred
5. Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate
Job Goal:
Responsible for promoting and enhancing the overall academic mission by providing services and implementing intervention strategies that strengthen home, school, and community partnerships; contribute to the development of a healthy, safe, and caring home and academic environment; address barriers to learning and achievement; empower students, families, and school personnel to access available opportunities and resources that develop each student’s potential; and advance the understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family, community, and cultural differences on student success.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Conduct assessments, observations, interviews, and evaluations in accordance with family and student rights. Use student, family, and school assessment results to identify needs that affect student learning
2. Intervene for student success via such practices as crisis intervention and response, home visits, conflict resolution, individual and group counseling, consultation, program development, dropout prevention, graduation awareness, and coordination of school and community services. Plan, develop, and implement appropriate long-term and short-term interventions for students, families, schools, and communities
3. Advocate for appropriate services and resources for students and their families and assist students and their families in gaining access to formal and informal community resources
4. Consult and collaborate with stakeholders on behalf of students and their families regarding issues such as attendance, mental health, behavior management, crisis intervention, homelessness, child abuse, and neglect. Works with internal and external individuals, groups, and organizations to develop programs or systems of care that support and enhance the health, social and emotional well-being, and safety of students.
5. Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and the individualized education program (IEP) committee, contributing information and collaborating on the child’s educational plan.
6. Assist in the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of programs to meet identified learning and adjustment needs.
7. Develop and monitor behavior plans and safety plans, and implement positive behavior support strategies.
8. Develop and maintain appropriate records and reports related to students, families, community resources, and interventions/programs.
9. Participate in professional organizations, continuing education, and inservices to continually improve professional knowledge and skill.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary:
Social Workers are on the Special Services Provider Salary Schedule and is based upon years of experience.
All years of eligible, verified experience is accepted.
$3,000 Conditional Recruitment Stipend
