Secondary Instructional Facilitator 

Middle and High School Humanities and Social Studies and New Teacher Support

 

DEFINITION 

The Roaring Fork School District (RFSD) is seeking applications for a strong instructional leader to serve as an Secondary Instructional Facilitator.  This Facilitator will work in collaboration with the district’s instructional team and building leaders to drive student achievement in middle and high school humanities and social studies. They will also coach new teachers, develop and facilitate professional development for secondary (middle and high school) certified staff to improve educator effectiveness, and possibly oversee CTE coordination.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED 

Receives direct supervision from the Chief Academic Officer.   

 

PRIMARY DUTIES – The following are examples of primary duties assigned to the position.   Other related primary duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Teacher mastery of phase 1 instructional practices on the instructional model

 

CURRICULAR SUPPORT

  • Lead curricular support, including materials procurement and distribution, coordinating professional development and training, vendor contracts, and budget management
  • Coordinate and support academic interventions and programming
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators and other instructional facilitators to identify instructional areas needing improvement/intervention
  • Support the development, implementation and evaluation of common assessments in collaboration with the CAO.
  • Keep current regarding developments in curriculum, instruction and assessment and provide leadership and training to all staff. 

 

CONTENT TEAM SUPPORT

  • Support middle and high school content leads in facilitating content team goals 
  • Provide middle and high school content leads with feedback and support regarding leadership and management skills 
  • Provide content leads with curriculum adoption and implementation support including materials acquisition, organizing professional development and training, and securing contracts with vendors

 

NEW TEACHER SUPPORT 

  • Develop, coordinate, and co-lead new teacher orientation in collaboration with elementary  instructional facilitator 
  • Own and lead induction programming for newly licensed secondary  teachers
  • Coordinate and oversee mentors for newly licensed secondary teachers
  • Coach new secondary  teachers
  • Provide constructive feedback and ongoing assistance to new and existing teachers during informal observations and walk-throughs. 

 

OVERALL

  • Model best practice instruction, design and deliver professional development which develops educator effectiveness. 
  • Effectively manage the budget for assigned curricular areas
  • Attend team meetings when necessary and leadership team meetings. 
  • Assist in determining the effectiveness of the district’s curriculum and instructional practices; assists the CAO with curricular initiatives or adoption. 
  • Support teachers and administrators in establishing results teams and data cycles, analyzing data and using data to inform decisions at the classroom and school level.  
  • Partner with principals in supporting teachers, and holding them accountable for program implementation, student achievement and growth.
  • Assists in the coordination and implementation of Colorado Academic Standards, Common Core Standards, and AP curriculum.
  • Mentors, coaches and provides professional development for teachers on a remediation plan.  
  • Provides responsible staff assistance to the Chief Academic Officer and Superintendent; performs other duties as assigned. 
  • Follows all related Board of Education policies and regulations

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Knowledge of: 

  • Advanced knowledge of standards based education
  • Experience with AP, humanities, and social studies curriculum
  • Best practices in delivering effective instruction 
  • Advanced knowledge of district and state assessments
  • Advanced knowledge of using data to drive student achievement
  • Best practices in teacher coaching and professional development 
  • Advanced knowledge of strategies, processes, implementation and facilitation of educator professional development
  • Concepts, methods and techniques of developing and implementing goals, objective and programs
  • Effective public speaking and presentation techniques 
  • Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulation (SB 191, Read Act, etc.) 
  • Effective classroom management practices
  • English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Modern office procedures and methods
  • Effective aspects of coaching, mentoring and evaluating teachers
  • Seamless use of Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, and district technology platforms
  • Principles of business and letter writing and basic report preparation

 

Ability to: 

  • Deliver presentations to all staff and administrators 
  • Develop, recommend and implement District programs 
  • Analyze data to improve achievement
  • Visit all school locations as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities
  • Occasionally work during summer months, evenings and weekends 
  • Participate in the development and administration of goals, objectives and procedures 
  • Prepare clear and concise administrative and statistical reports 
  • Operate and use modern office equipment including a computer and various software packages 
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work

 

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING GUIDELINES 

Education and Experience: 

  • Seven years teaching experience and a Master’s degree required in a content field associated with area of responsibility or related area.
  • Possession of a Professional Teacher’s license from the Colorado Department of Education.  
  • Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain an appropriate valid Colorado driver’s license.  

 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

Office environment; exposure to computer screens; travel from site to site.  

 

Physical Conditions: 

Primary functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of times; use of computer keyboard; light lifting and carrying.    

 

DAYS WORKED

209 days/year (with paid leave, and district non-work days such as during winter and spring breaks)

PAY RANGE

 $84,913 to 100,000 **Based on education and years of relevant experience

 

**Annual salary noted above is based on an 8 hour day (FTE 1) and full days worked calendar. Any position that is less than a full FTE/8 hours per day or late start will be prorated accordingly.
