$37,502 – $56,938 annually 


Elizabeth High School has an opening in our severe needs program in special education.  This person works directly with a small group of students in our SSN program.  The program generally has five to eight students.  In addition, there is a need to supervise a number of paraprofessionals in this classroom as well, and work with other service providers.  The teacher is also responsible for writing IEP’s for all students in this program.


1.        Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
2.        Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the district.
3.         Provides intervention consultation to secondary students with disabilities in an integrated and/or pullout model
4.         Responsibilities include developing and implementing IEPs, developing modified curriculum data collection, supervision of special education paraprofessional, collaboration, communication, and diagnostic evaluation.
5.         Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of each assigned student.
6.         Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
7.         Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional standards and assesses student progress on a regular basis.
8.       Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
9.       Maintains acceptable standards of classroom behavior, assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy.
10.       Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning and implementation of instructional goals, objectives, and methods
11.       Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students; makes appropriate provisions for being available outside the instructional day.
12.       Provides for one’s own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, or advance course work at institutions of higher learning.

Bachelor’s degree required

License as required by the State of Colorado

May supervise and direct the work of para-professionals and volunteers
