|
Responsible for answering employee questions regarding District benefits; mediating problems involving insurance coverage for employees; processing/maintaining benefits records; managing vendor premium payments; maintaining spreadsheets and ledgers for reconciling payroll benefit deductions; processing and maintaining 401 (k), 403 (b), and State of Colorado 457 deductions to comply with all pertinent IRS regulations, developing and presenting new employee orientation programs; and preparing necessary reports and paperwork. Coordinate with District benefits broker and insurance committee in renewal and Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Daily | 10% | Research and resolve District benefit issues and mediate individual employee and vendor problems regarding insurance coverage and claim disputes. |
Daily | 15% | Respond to benefits inquiries from employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries. Review eligible event changes. |
Wkly | 15% | Review, input deductions and maintain the Oracle payroll system. |
Mnthly | 11% | Compile data, calculate costs and manage insurance vendor premium payments, and remit contributions to 403 (b) and 457 vendors. Process deductions for PERA voluntary life insurance. Prepare and submit life insurance death benefit claims for employees and their dependents to the District- assigned vendor. |
Mnthly | 20% | Reconcile payroll benefit deductions, including record keeping and managing ledgers for leave of absences, workers’ compensation and charter schools. Submit all electronic files to Third Party Administrator for Department of Labor requirements and Medical and Dependent Flex administration. |
Daily | 5% | Review, input data and maintain all 401 (k), 403 (b) and 457 deductions including monitoring IRS limitations, reviewing loans, direct rollover and transfer requests for signature by plan administrator. |
Yrly | 3% | Develop and present new employee orientations. |
Yrly | 1% | Assist auditors with vendor reconciliations. |
Yrly | 10% | Coordinate vendor renewal and RFP process with District broker and insurance committee. Prepare all materials for open enrollment, including the coordination and scheduling of open enrollment meetings with current vendors. Respond to questions from employees regarding plans and open enrollment process. |
Qrtly | 1% | Collaborate with the Human Resources web master to update and revise the benefits web page and online benefits tutorial. |
Wkly | 1% | Prepare and submit required paperwork for employees who may qualify for a Waiver of Premium under the District’s life insurance plan. |
Wkly | 5% | In conjunction with Technology Specialists, develop and implement software changes for benefit reports, rates and functionality. Test Oracle patches applied in a test environment before they are put into the production module. Troubleshoot errors and implement system upgrades. |
Mnthly | 2% | Attend monthly wellness meetings. Provide input in development of wellness program and communication to employees. |
Daily | 1% | Perform other duties as assigned. |
High school diploma or equivalent plus courses in accounting and computer skills. |

At least 1 year of experience in customer service, benefits, and/or accounting.
|
|
Advanced oral and written communication, interpersonal, customer service, telephone etiquette, organizational, prioritization, basic accounting, word processing, spread sheet and computer skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the work environment. Operating knowledge of and experience with computers and 10-key calculator. Operating knowledge of Oracle, Microsoft Word and Excel and general office equipment preferred; required within 6 months after hire.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Acts as a resource for individuals throughout the District, their families and their beneficiaries by answering questions regarding District benefits and accurately processing benefit enrollments and claims.

Medium exposure to self to repetitive motion injuries due to keyboarding. Low exposure to self to bruises and cuts due to typical office accidents.

|
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
