Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to providing inclusive and individualized education to students with diverse learning needs. As a Middle School Special Education Teacher, you will collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and parents to create a positive and effective learning environment that fosters the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student.
Responsibilities:
- Individualized and Group Instruction:
- Develop and implement personalized learning plans for students with special needs, tailoring instruction to meet their unique learning styles, abilities, and challenges.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods, adaptive materials, and assistive technologies to enhance student engagement and comprehension.
- Plan daily group instruction in either ELA or Math to target specific skills, using a variety of different curricula and supports
- Collaboration & Compliance:
- Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to create an inclusive classroom environment that supports the success of all students.
- Attend and actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings for a caseload of 10 students, collaborating with parents, special education team members, and other stakeholders to address students’ academic and behavioral needs.
- Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

- Conduct ongoing assessments and analyze data to identify students’ strengths and areas of growth.
- Monitor and track student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
- Behavioral and Emotional Support:

- Implement positive behavior support strategies to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Provide social-emotional learning (SEL) guidance and support to help students develop essential life skills and cope with challenges.
- Professional Development:

- Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in special education.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge in the field.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related content field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (preferred) or desire to obtain certification (we can help you!)
- Experience working with middle school students with a range of disabilities.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with special needs.
Salary Range: $45,000.00- $65,173.4
