The Moffat County School District RE-1, Craig, Colorado, Board of Education, is seeking a highly qualified Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position July 1, 2024.
McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development, in association with the Colorado Association of School Boards, has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Education in identifying and screening the candidates.
Enrollment: 2,068 students
Location: 200 miles northwest of Denver
The Qualifications
The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The person must have the qualifications and certification to be a superintendent in Colorado and must hold a Colorado administrator license. The board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The Board developed the following characteristics.

A person who can guide divergent issues toward solutions with firmness and dignity. A leader who knows and understands technology. A person who will live in the district.
Educator – A person with a strong working knowledge of education. A leader with classroom and building leadership (preferred) experience who listens to the classroom teacher and understands parenting and family life. A leader who has demonstrated a track record of excellence in education. A leader who knows and understands technology’s impact on the classroom.
Accountable – A leader with business acumen. A leader who empowers staff and holds them accountable. A competent fiscal agent who thrives on transparency.
Compensation Parameter – $140,000 – $180,000 with Family Health Insurance and other negotiated benefits
