Technology Technology Director

Job Description

● Work collaboratively in a leadership role with district administration to develop a clear vision for the role of technology in teaching and learning to drive priorities and budget creation.
● Develop and administer the current technology budget as well as developing 5-year and 10-year technology budgets with strategic planning for device replacement cycles, systems upgrades, and emergent technologies.
● Manage technology budget to ensure that allocations are accurate, that expenditures are within budget limits, and that proper fiscal practices and Board of Education policies are followed.
● Oversee procurement, inventory and surplus of technology equipment, systems and services such that purchases are consistent with the district’s technology plan and equipment is inventoried or disposed of in compliance with local, district and state regulations.
● Direct the installation of technology systems and tools (e.g. hardware, software, systems,
wiring, specialized applications and tools) to ensure the safe, timely and efficient deployment of equipment and services.
● In coordination with district administration, develop onboarding systems for new staff to support their technology needs as well as clear processes and procedures for staff members who are exiting the district.
● Manage the maintenance, refurbishment, and repair of district copy machines and printers as well as replacement and deployment of the same.
● Supervise technology staff (e.g. hiring, recommendations, interviewing, training, evaluations, etc.) in order to support the district mission, maximize efficiency of the department, and to meet all operational and instructional requirements.
● Participate in ongoing professional growth and development by connecting and engaging with state and national-level organizations, such as CoSN, SETDA, CALET, and Google West Collaborative.
● With the technology department team and in collaboration with the District Innovative Learning Specialist, design and deliver effective professional learning to support the growth and development of productivity computing skills for teachers, support staff and district
administrators.
● Protect data privacy and security by thorough training of students and staff in effective privacy and data management policies; ensure security of information technology assets, data, network access, onsite and off-site backup systems. This includes ensuring that all vendors complete data protection agreements.
● Manage effective communications and positive working relationships between the Technology Department and other departments as well as external service providers.
