Teacher ELD Teachers: 3rd-6th and 7th-12th

Job Description

Teach in the heart of the Rockies on a 4-day school week.  Incredible location and unforgettable students!  We are seeking TWO ELD teachers – one for grades 3-6 at Lake County Intermediate School and one for grades 7-12 at Lake County High School.

Primary purpose: 

To create a flexible ELD program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for secondary education in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members. 

Responsibilities: 

Duties of this job include, and are not limited to: 

  1. Classes include but are not limited to ELD 1, 2, JH ELD, and Crew.
  2. Teach targeted ELD groups using language proficiency and other academic data
  3. Follow provided curriculum and/or create curricular resources for ELD groups
  4. Build and adapt ELD support schedule, based on need
  5. Provide classroom push-in support
  6. Ensure district policies are upheld and systems followed in collaboration with all ELD staff
  7. Plan and facilitate professional development in collaboration with school leadership team
  8. Collaborate with administration to integrate and refine best practices for teaching multilingual learners into school improvement plans and help monitor instructional practices
  9. Participate in MTSS process for multilingual students, as requested
  10. Collaborate with special education staff to support multilingual learners with special needs
  11. Fulfill all duties of ELD teacher annual timeline in a timely manner, including:
    1. identify and redesignate multilingual students using state and district guidelines
    2. maintain updated list of multilingual students and language proficiency data
    3. assure staff knows identified multilingual students and has the resources to support them
    4. build and maintain positive relationships with families of multilingual students
    5. collaborate with staff to determine role at conferences and other school events
  12. Collaborate with READ plan team to identify exemptions
  13. Disseminate ELD information to staff as needed in weekly staff bulletin
  14. Participate in training, scheduling, and administration of the state-mandated ACCESS 2.0 language proficiency test, in collaboration with district assessment leaders
  15. Review test accommodations with teams so ELs receive needed accommodations for assessments
  16. Communicate with the Lake County Intermediate School ELD staff to prepare for the 6th to 7th transition.
  17. Annually meet with all multilingual learners to graph ACCESS scores, set goals, and notify of status
  18. Work in collaboration with the 7-12 teachers
  19. Develop strong relationships with students that both hold expectations high and support students to achieve high results within a calm, safe, and supportive environment.
  20. Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree of related subject from accredited university
  • Colorado teaching certificate;
    • Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education Endorsement or Bilingual Education Specialist required, or willing to gain endorsement within the first year of employment.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred
