Job Description

Lewis-Palmer School District 38 is located in El Paso County, Colorado, and serves approximately 6,600 students in the Palmer Lake, Monument, Woodmoor, and the northern Black Forest areas. D38 has five elementary schools (PreK to grade six), one middle school (grades seven to eight), and two high schools (grades nine to 12). D38 also has a charter school that serves pK-11th grade students. All D38 schools offer a premier education that supports innovative and relevant programming for students at all grade levels. D38 is one of just four school districts Accredited with Distinction by the State of Colorado every year since 2009, and consistently earns numerous awards and accolades for strong academic and extracurricular performance.

The elementary school principal is supervised by the Superintendent. The principal is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, administering and evaluating the personnel, facilities and educational programs, which they supervise, consistent with Colorado Revised Statutes, School Board Policies, and District Administrative Procedures. The elementary school principal will provide leadership to the staff, students, and parents, will advance the District mission, and will promote the achievement of District standards for students and staff.

The work year for this position is 210 days. The salary range is between $100,000 and $125,000.  Previous successful experience in school administration is a major factor in determining salary. The District offers excellent employee benefits, to include health, life, vision and dental plans.

The successful candidate must possess a Master’s Degree and hold or be eligible for a Colorado Principal License. At least 5 years of successful teaching experience is preferred; elementary level teaching experience preferred. Prior administration experience preferred. Working knowledge of Standards Based Education, experience with instructional strategies that promote academic achievement and growth for all students, Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS), and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).

In order to be considered for this position, a completed application must be submitted, on or before the deadline date of January 16, 2023. The start date for administrative staff will be in July, 2023. Interviews with selected candidates will be the week of January 30, 2023.

All employees are eligible for participation in the Colorado Public Employees Retirement Account, PERA. Full-time employees employed at least thirty hours per week, of Lewis-Palmer School District are eligible for health insurance plans that include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Lewis-Palmer does provide one plan that is of no cost to the individual. However, employees may choose from a selection of plans that include coverage additional options for individuals, employee plus spouse, employee plus children, and family plans. Paid leave is accrued in accordance with District policies and afforded to all persons in accordance with Colorado law.
