ESS (Exceptional Student Services) Teacher Job Description

To provide a well organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of instructional programs and available resource materials.

To provide training in the various types of disabilities to assure the staff is aware of the needs of the students.

To serve as a member of the Special Education staffing team.

To complete necessary paperwork as required for the Special Education program.

To assist the Director in hiring/evaluation of staff.

Provide direct services to student in the achievement of their IEP goals.

To act as a resource to the parents on issues regarding their child.

To maintain confidentiality of student files.

Assists the teacher in providing appropriate education experiences for the children in all areas of learning.

Assists in promoting and supervising the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child; in classroom activities; playground supervisor; cafeteria and bus loading.

Participates in in-service training programs.

Works with individuals and small groups on instructional activities.

Do necessary data entry in software management programs to ensure appropriate information for decision making. (ie Alpine, Powerschool, Schoology)

Perform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
